Al Faro — Restaurant in Cefalù

We visited in August 2019, after walking past the first couple of days and reading some reviews, decided to eat here on our last night; and happy we did. Our waiter was very friendly and the overal service was good (something you don't take for granted after two weeks in Italy). We had the mussels and aubergine for starters. Although the aubergine a bit blend the mussels where great. Classic wine sauce and big mussel, cooked perfect. For mains we choose couple of pasta dishes; which were all lovely. And the homemade pasta excellent. Desserts where the highlight: pistachio semifreddo recommend. Good wine list too. Overall experience: classic Italian good, no surprises but great quality ingredients...

My husband and I were a little disappointed with this place..

One of the waiters was so kind but they other was rude and dismissive, not very accomodating.

This place has a Gorgeous view and quiet location. My husband ordered the pasta which was severely undercooked, not al dente, severely undercooked. My octopus had no flavour and the bed of mash as well as the octopus was all cold. My husband said it was his worst meal in all of Italy, and he never complains about anything..

Tiramisu wasn’t that great either, overpowering alcohol,...

Very good food with one of the best views you can get. Delicious local wine in a caraf. Nice staff too. The trancio of swordfish with pistachio was excellent but the pasta con le sarde, while very nice, was not in the traditional agrodolce style you get in other places. So perhaps modified for tourists. Still very good just in a different way. Slightly rushed service but that wasn’t their fault - they were clear when I arrived I only had an hour before other guests arrived. Very good spot to try if you’re here...
