When I say this one was seriously ONE OF THE BEST FOOD EXPERIENCES WE HAD IN ITALY I am not exaggerating!!! Everything from the welcome to the desserts were absolutely ON POINT. My Husband and I were greeted by the owner, Johnny and his son, which was just a nicest gesture, and all of Johnny’s crew was going above and beyond to make the experience an UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT IN COMO. That is only speaking about the gift of hospitality that Johnny has in his restaurant, which came much needed since we weren’t impress with the service of some Italian restaurants that we visited, making sure he took a picture of us and even bringing the speaker and candles to light up our dinner!! But let me tell you about the food… We traveled all over Italy in a 21 day honeymoon and tasted many different restaurants, from the highest of ends to the more humble locations, since we like our pasta, wanted to get all of different perspectives. The food that we had at PiazzaRomaComo was OUTSTANDING!! The polpo croccante appetizer was one of the best octopus we ever had! The scialatelli was cooked to perfection and the Lamb was to die for!!!
If you get the opportunity to dine in Johnny’s restaurant, you’ll find yourself in one of the BEST local food, you’ll be delighted with the service and you’ll be highly satisfied with the freshness and the incredible flavors that Johnny’s family has being able to create. Read moreThis is one of those places that, upon entering, you simply know it will be a night to remember or one to quickly forget, and nothing in between. It was the former--a memorable evening full of great food, attentive and kind service, perfect pacing, and generous extras.
The space is small and oddly but charmingly appointed - nothing quite fits, yet it all fits perfectly. Our server was Agxon (I believe) and he was so nice and so good. We were each gifted a glass of prosecco to start.
With some great "suggerimenti" (suggestions) from Agxon, we chose the avocado tart and crispy octopus as our starters... both were delicious. The octopus was outstanding if you like octopus. for Primi, we shared the shellfish ravioli - again, delicious. the pasta texture was excellent, and the clams were tender, just right. For Secondi, we chose the sea catch of the day and the rack of lamb. Both were excellent, but the lamb was amazing.
Agxon also suggested a nice bottle of food-friendly Italian red wine (I wish I could remember the region and grape) that played very well with our diverse dishes.
Our meal concluded with a delicious tiramisu dessert and an espresso, followed by a 3-minute walk to our hotel (Palace Hotel). The bill was as surprising as the food... all of this for € 149.
We probably wouldn't have found this little treasure if not for the many positive reviews submitted here, so it is only right that I return the favor.

The homemade ravioli was a perfect follow-up along with the fish of the day, sea bass I think. The fish's skin stayed crunchy and while the fillet was so moist and flaky, an impressive effort by the chef who is only 18 year old. We selected the Neapolitan Babà and the Chamomile Pineapple Soup for desert. While we were hoping for the traditional mushroom shaped baba, we were not disappointed in the taste, well blended without the strong alcohol aftertaste. This restaurant is run by a family who takes pleasure in creating great food and sharing them with others. My wife and I felt very fortunate to have selected Piazza Roma Ristorante for dinner. We always look for the best restaurant in the area to experience and found three Michelin restaurants in Como. We believe that this restaurant is on par with most of the places that we have been in our travels in terms of food quality, commitment and passion.
