I was quite dismayed to have to revise my previous rating, but the Teatro performance this weekend was more akin to a farce than an opera. One hour wait between the antipasti and the main courses, only to be presented with a mostly inedible fare. 3 people in our party were served with salted cod, sold as grilled branzino. When we complained, the server lied to our face, claiming the salty leather strip they served us was indeed a branzino. It does not end there. The pasta alle vongole was undercooked. One of our party was not feeling well and asked for a simple tomato sauce pasta. She was served an oily mess. Once more we complained and we were told that there was minimal oil in a pasta whose sheen looked like a tanker shipwreck. Some words of advice: mistakes happen and you will occasionally run out of a dish. That’s not, repeat not, the time when you lie to your customers. Tl;dr: great location, but avoid actually...
Read moreVery disappointed due to huge waiting times and mediocre pizza. We arrived at 8.15 as instructed by the owner who was worried about the fact the place would have been full with theatre goers any earlier (La Boheme was on, starting at 8pm) We were seated immediately but then had to wait until 8.41 for our orders to be taken. We were informed pizzas would have taken longer than usual, when we asked they said 20-25 minutes. In the end we waited 60minute, with pizzas arriving at 9.41. A total of 85 minutes to eat a pizza is totally not ok. At least be honest with your guests: when ordering we asked tbe waiter if it was going to really be 20-25 minutes and he had said "25 at most".
Pizzas were allso quite average. Crust was not particularly crunchy and dough not particularly well raised. They do cater for coeliac (gluten free) food with a certified gluten free kitchen but I have eaten many better gluten...
Read moreI was here on vacation in November and had lunch at this restaurant with my husband and son — we actually ate a full meal. Today, I came back and sat on the terrace. The place was only about 30% full. I ordered a coffee and a bottle of water, planning to quickly enjoy my drink and leave.
But then a waitress came over to me and told me I had to order food — that drinks alone weren’t allowed. She looked at me with a sour face and said, “Lady, this is a restaurant.” Then she basically started kicking me out.
Absolutely disgraceful. The worst part is, I actually planned to come back for dinner and would’ve eaten here again — many times! But after being treated like that and hearing that rude comment — “Lady, this is a restaurant!” — I will never return and will never recommend this place to any...
