Don't eat here, you will regret it.
We came here at dinner time, as the other restaurant we wanted to go to, Ristorante Sociale, is not open today. I already thought that this place must be a tourist trap because it's in front of the duomo. But I thought to myself: "why not give it a shot, the price is reasonable." But little did I know...
I ordered lasagna and tuna tartar, and my friend ordered tagliatelle. First, my glass of red wine is super warm, way over the proper temperature. Our bread is cold and old. Second, my lasagna is sub par - honestly I think I make better lasagna than this one. My tuna tartar, which costed €20, is over salted and not impressive at all. The worst may be my friend's tagliatelle: not only that the noodles are lukewarm, the carrots are cut in giant pieces and there was turnip inside. Excuse me, did we order wok noodles or pasta? I do like turnip but in the pasta? I am sorry, I've never seen that.
The service is slow and it took a while for us to get our food. Our server was also not attentive. Overall, it IS a tourist trap and the prices are slightly more expensive than what you'd find in other restaurants nearby. Don't eat here unless you are willing to spend money for low...
Read moreStart off with the positives: The location is picturesque, right underneath the Duomo. The staff were friendly. The pizza was nice enough!
Now the negatives… and really it’s a whole culmination of one thing: My other half ordered a pasta dish of which when served was stone cold… we informed the staff and they said they would replace it, that would have been good if true. The exact same dish came back 60 seconds later as if it had just been put in a microwave. The overall taste of this dish tasted like American style cheese with very salty bacon bits on there. This could just be exactly how the dish was supposed to come but it did not seem right was not pleasant.
Overall: After our experience I wouldn’t return, however if in a rush for something to eat with a nice location then it’s not the worst option. The staff were friendly and hard working as there were plenty of tables to look after. The location is fantastic and the atmosphere...
Read moreWe tried only cocktails on Saturday. Da Pietro participated in Como Cocktail Week, that's why it was in our short list. The location is amazing, right at the foot of Duomo di Como. Especially in summer it's wonderful to have a drink or food with such beautiful view. We ordered “Conte del Lario” and "...E allora bourbon" - unbalanced, you feel main flavour too strong, waiters don't tell you the idea and story of a cocktail. Maybe our impression was also ruined by the fact that when we entered, a waitress just yelled at us that we can't walk by terrace. Sorry but we are grown ups but not children of your waitress, she can't tell us what to do and where to walk. Yes, she apologized after but even our mothers didn't yell at us when we were kids:) Mood was spoiled, so we decided not to try dinner. We are giving 2 stars for service because out of 3 waitresses 1 was super nice but she didn't serve us...
