Rude and xenophobic staff - pls AVOID at ALL costs! I would give ZERO stars if I could.
On the morning of 1st April 2024, my family experienced xenophobic attitude by staff at this place - specifically an older male barista and a younger female counter staff. As Asian passengers, we noticed that we were being treated differently and given poorer service compared to the non-Asian passengers around us. They were being served ahead of us even though they were behind us in the queue. We tried to give feedback politely and asked for explanations about the differential treatment. Although the explanation was very unsatisfactory, we were prepared to forget about it and let it go. However, we were later confronted extremely rudely by the female counter staff for taking photos of the restaurant and food (which we usually do as tourists in every place we eat) and were even threatened by her that she will call the police over. I told her that we were not afraid and she should go ahead to call the police over. However, she didn't dare to do it in the end. She then forced my mother to delete her photos, even though we did not see any signs/indications that photo taking is prohibited in the area.
I was travelling with a few elderly family members and her threatening behaviour left them shaken and shocked, as we’ve never faced such horribly racist treatment before despite being regular travellers. From the other reviews here, seems like that is her standard operating procedure to scare customers, even though I can’t fathom what she gets out of doing that.
The food and drinks are also mediocre at best and overpriced, certainly not worth any time and effort as there are better options elsewhere in FCO.
I’d written to the company that manages this bistro, Areas (https://areas.com). However, they have not bothered to reply at all, which is extremely...
Read moreI recently visited Bistro by Mastercard at Rome Airport, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired.
Upon entering the establishment, I noticed a lack of cleanliness. The tables were not properly cleared, and the overall ambiance seemed neglected. This initial impression didn't set the right tone for my dining experience.
To make matters worse, the condition of the water glasses was appalling. Our cups were visibly dirty, with one even sporting a lipstick stain. It was quite off-putting and raised serious concerns about the establishment's hygiene practices.
When my wife and I attempted to document the issue by taking a photo of the dirty cup, we were met with an aggressive response from our waitress. She forcefully took the glass from us and even went so far as to involve the police, which was unnecessary and escalated the situation unnecessarily.
Such a level of unprofessionalism was unexpected, and it further tainted our experience at Bistro by Mastercard. The staff's behavior towards customers should always be respectful and accommodating, which was sadly lacking in this case.
While I appreciate the convenience of having a restaurant within the airport, the experience at Bistro by Mastercard fell far short of my expectations. The unclean cups, aggressive response from the waitress, and mediocre food all contributed to a negative dining experience,Bad experience, lack of basic hygiene and aggressive stuff is definitely something that ruined my experience before leavings the country, strongly advise to be carful while...
Read moreI don't usually leave a review but had to issue a warning. Ordered a porchetta sandwich, took two bites and had to return it. It was so dry and tasteless. The only reason I gave 3 stars for service was because they graciously accepted my complaint and offered any other item. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan that was not the best but it was palatable. If it was only the issue above, I would not leave a review but I also ordered the tomato/mozzarella salad. I'm not even sure how someone can screw this up but they succeeded in doing so. My companions thought that I was just complaining for the sake of complaining, so I offered them a taste. The tomatoes tasted like they had been sitting out for days and they had was no flavour at all. They just tasted.....old. I love tomatoes and these were just terrible. Could not finish. This is called Bistro by Mastercard with Chef Michelangelo's name underneath the logo. Not sure if this is an actual chef but if it is, he should hang up his apron.....and Mastercard, I would ask these guys to step up their game. It does not look good on you to provide such a bad product. We have been eating 3 meals a day over the past 14 days (in restaurants, train stations, street food) and this was the ONLY meal that I have had...
