The worst experience I had at Fiumicino airport.
Returning from a trip to Rome, I wanted to charge my phone and tablet before the flight while having a nice dinner. I saw this place offering some tables next to plugs so I decided to give it a try. While checking the place out I saw one guy taking orders so I ordered food and drinks before heading to a table.
When I picked a table, a waitress told me that since I have ordered from “the bar”, I can’t use the tables as they are reserved for “the restaurant”. See, when a place has one name, one sign, I don’t think I should ask around whether I can use the tables, that belong to the same place, just because I ordered from the bar. If I knew, I’d order from the menu, and have the privilege to use the special services offered by the restaurant.
After some discussions, the waitress gave me “permission” to sit and use the plugs, after some angry yelling at her colleagues and picking up everything that belongs to “the restaurant” including cutlery, napkins, glasses and even the table mats.
This happened to several people while I was there and I was shocked by how rudely people were treated. But also, I guess that explains all the empty tables.
I’d suggest to provide better training to your staff because saying “excuse me, these tables are reserved for the restaurant customers only, but please feel free to use them this time” would bring more customers and better ratings to your establishment, and it’s not hard to do, especially given that most of the...
Read moreI don’t usually write bad reviews but my experience with the staff was absolutely terrible and ruined the whole mood for our departure. First off, the lady with the short blonde hair left her mop in the middle of where you pick out your food. I was placing my order when I didn’t look down at my feet and tripped a little, I apologized profusely and she started yelling at me in Italian and told me to move. She’s the one who left the mop in the MIDDLE of the floor… Secondly, the 2 women staff members who were working the cash were rolling their eyes at everyone and making snarky comments in Italian to which my friends understood. Thirdly, I ordered a mortadella sandwich. I kept waiting and waiting while my friends already got their food and I saw they finally took a mortadella sandwich out of the oven so I assumed it was mine because I was waiting for so long. When I went over to get it she looked at me in the eyes as she gave it to someone else and then had the audacity to ask what I wanted when she’s the one who took my order. Then her and the other girl started laughing again because they forgot my sandwich. Honestly the rudest staff members I’ve ever encountered. I also work in the service industry so I am more understanding than others in situations like this, but this was just over the line and makes me and my friends never want to travel into the Rome...
Read moreApologies for 3 stars first due to there only being 4 black bistro tables. I had a delicious ham salad flat roll and capuchinno today at 10.30am, as I spoke in English my message may have been misunderstood. After paying the cashier by card, I walked over to the lady making the coffee. She looked at my receipt and pulled another roll, whilst the original cashier heated up the roll. I apologised the best I could in Italian by saying no problemo, after all in the best comedy UK show the inbetweeners no problemo is a catch phrase. I thanked the second lady by saying gracious and she replied prego. The service was good, the only downside was when I sat down on the white bar eating area I was kindly asked to move to one of the 4 bistro tables which were all taken. . Finding no space I struggled with the hot drink and roll and couples of bags to the black passenger seating. I found it difficult to eat there...for that reason I have taken off two stars. I was so tired by my 8 hour flight from Delhi, which had been delayed, and just wanted somewhere nice to eat before my Alitalia flight to London which is at 2pm. Three weeks previously I had a better eating at beer code | kitchen & bar which is on the opposite side....your...
