giaogiao Firenze — Restaurant in Florence

Florence's restaurant scene has expanded voraciously in recent years; now it's similar to a European capitol, when not so long ago, it was tourist-oriented and hit or miss. While once they were few, Chinese restaurants are sprouting up. GiaoGiao has opened three locations in Florence and there are several Chinese spots on this block north of the Duomo. This is not the Chinese Italian restaurant a couple of generations of Italians would be familiar with. It is catered toward youngsters, either traveling or living in Florence. You order on touch screens in the front like at some McDonald's. In several decades of eating at Chinese restaurants in Italy, I have never encountered a dish like the simple, but delectable Noodles with Chili Oil, that knocked my socks off. And the Cucumber in Sauce is going to be a surprise to some, as it is not-playing-around spicy. The boba drinks were room temperature and it took some cajoling to get our Spritzes to arrive. Though, I hope GiaoGiao finds a customer base in Florence, as international cuisine has never quite landed...

Worst milk tea I've ever tasted, zero flavour and watery, boba not cooked well. Food tasteless. There was not a lot of people inside and the guy working cash register was disinterested in everything. Can't name one thing I liked EDIT Before the owner replied to me, I'd recommed to them to read a few of the replies before mine calling the food revoling, disgusting and that it even poisoned someone. We ordered taro milk boba, dumplings, spring rolls and fried rice noodles. All lacking in flavour, and not what people before me said! :) When we came in, the guy working the cash register was wearing a cap on his head and kept his head low. The Chinese food in this restaurant is too bad. I don't comment on the milk tea without drinking it. We ordered two types of rice, one of which is pot rice, but it is served in a plastic packaging box, and you need to serve it yourself. After eating, you also need to bring the dinner plate to the front desk by yourself. The sauce is very sweet, and I suspect that it is an "improved version" to cater to the tastes of tourists. My other meal is tomato beef rice. I'm sorry, the sauce is also sweet and greasy. It's so greasy after a few mouthfuls.
