Before our visit, I asked about their cake policy for my mother’s birthday, and they quickly replied that they just needed an HACCP-certified bakery receipt.
The restaurant itself has a cozy and relaxing vibe, perfect for a special evening. As for the food, I highly recommend the slow-cooked pork and the pasta with artichokes—both were absolutely delicious. The fillet steak and chicken breast were also fantastic, with a true charcoal-grilled flavor. The appetizer combo (€16) was great too, especially the beef tartare and the onion-topped option.
Despite us arriving so close to closing time, the staff provided excellent service and never rushed us. The manager (I believe) even noticed when we finished our appetizers and let the kitchen know to prepare the mains, showing genuine care for the customers.
The highlight of the evening was when dessert arrived. Since we were late and didn’t bring the birthday cake inside, the staff surprised us by placing a candle on our triple dessert plate and singing a birthday song for my mother! It was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that made the night truly special.
A tip: I highly recommend reserving through The Fork app. You can easily change the booking time, and many selected menu items are discounted by 30%, which is definitely worth it. In our case, we saved around €40 off the original menu price!
I can see why this restaurant has a 4.9/5 rating on Google and a 9.3 on The Fork—it’s well deserved. My only regret is not ordering the T-bone steak and not discovering this gem sooner. We’ll definitely come back to Florence just for this...
Read moreWe have been visiting Florence most every year since 2010, and have had the pleasure of eating at some really great restaurants. We always like trying new restaurants and were a group of seven looking for a delicious dinner spot. Fortunately, our concierge recommended La Carbonata and we are so happy he did! The decor is attractive and comfortable. The owner, Danelo, greeted us at the door and treated us like lifelong friends. But, the real story here is the Tuscan food and Italian red wine. We have had Florentine steak before, but, all of us agreed that this was the best we have had. Grilled and seasoned to perfection. And, the appetizers and pastas, vegetables, desserts, everything was superb! (Limoncello, too!). Definitely one of the favorite meals of the trip. As a newer (owner-operated) restaurant in Florence, we will add La Carbonata to our “must visit” list! Danelo, thank you for the wonderful experience! Grazie from The Capogrossis...
Read moreMy parents and I stumbled across La Carbonata, one Sunday afternoon while walking between the Uffizi and the Galleria dell'Accademia. It is a very nice restaurant with a great selection of different breeds of beef. I would highly recommend visiting and bring your appetite. This is much better than the typical tourist restaurant that you find near the popular tourist sites in Florence with multiple languages and pictures on the menu. The anti-pasta, truffles, cheese, vegetables, etc. were all very fresh, and part of wonderfully executed Tuscan inspired dishes. Our waiter provided excellent recommendations of local wines to try while we devoured everything. There were some very interesting super-tuncans on the wine list as well to compliment your secondi. The value of the meal (anti-pasta, primi, secondi, dessert, cafe, and digestive) and service were excellent. I will...
