We chose this restaurant because it was close to where we were staying but I couldn't really recommend it. It was nearly empty on a Saturday night but a plus point was the main menu was available in English, which is less common outside the city centre. Both our starters (antipasti) - cured pork belly with bruchetta and pecorino with pears - were generous and enjoyable. For his main course, my partner chose a steak, the local speciality, which was huge and bloody and came with an enormous knife. He is not normally a steak eater but found it tasty with a good chargrilled flavour. My aubergine parmigiana was just average and could have done with a lot more cheese. Our side order of fries however was dreadful: half cooked, limp strips of greasy potato. We didn't have pudding because half the options were not available, including tiramisu which we'd been told a few minutes before was available. What kind of traditional Italian restaurant fails to stock enough tiramisu? Similarly the wine we spent some time choosing turned out to be unavailable and we were offered a substitute, which was ok but nothing special. The inside of the restaurant was once very beautiful with a lovely frescoed ceiling but now seems a bit tired. The whole place had an atmosphere of managed decline, emphasised by the chef sitting gloomily by the bar for the long periods when he wasn't cooking. In summary it was convenient and served its purpose but there was nothing to tempt us back. For the same price you can do...
Read moreLoved it! We were a party of four, when we arrived around 9 the place was almost empty (I'm not fully sure if that's late for Italian standards). The dinning room is amazing, the decoration and paints on the ceiling makes this a must if you're staying in Florence. We got two menu Toscano, one risotto and one melanzane parmeggiana. It was so much food! (We ended up sharing all and still was a lot) If you ask for the menu Toscano it's a great price/value relation. The bistecca Fiorentina was really tasty, and even they accommodate the request of my brother in law of cooking it longer so he could enjoy it as well. The risotto was amazing, this one is another must. The dessert was ok, I wasn't particularly keen on it but the rest of the folks liked it. The nice touch was that as they saw us sharing they brought 4 spoons for the two desserts without having to even ask for it. The menu was available in Italian, English and Spanish (not sure if there were...
Read moreMe and my partner had dinner here. Google said it opened 7:30, we came 7:50 and it was just unlocked but the chef hasn’t arrived yet. No problem. We sat down and browsed the menu.
We had appetizer, first course, second course and dessert. We shared a bruschetta, then she had soup and I had spaghetti as first course. Second course we both got meat. We finished of with Tiramisu.
The atmosphere is lovely with great potential, at the time there was rap music going on which didn’t not blend in well with the atmosphere.
The service was great, good English, friendly and service minded. The food was not as we expected. Based of the reviews it was supposed to be amazingly good. The appetizer and first course were very salty, too much salt and I’m not even that sensitive.
The meat were good all though my partner asked for medium and got rare.
Otherwise it seems to be a nice place. Would go again for a...
