Trattoria Cesarino — Restaurant in Florence

Excellent is how I would describe our evening there. Firstly, we were served a complimentary proseco by our friendly waiter. Although we have been living here for a bit and are familiar with eating out etc, he was very nice at trying to help us and recommend dishes (he wasn’t even trying to up sell the expensive ones) The starter recommended by him (again) was indeed fantastic as per his comment. A delicious bowl of mussels with a gentle tomato seafood sauce over it and garlic drenched bread underneath it. For mains, we had some sort of big ravioli stuffed with burrata with a generous sprinkle of shaved truffles and crispy speck, and roasted pork with potatoes. They were both great though a slight issue with the latter as the potatoes didn’t feel like they had just been roasted a la minute. Food: 5/10. Ordered a T-Bone steak and it was tough and rubbery. Fortunately the seasoning was seriously on point and it hence averages out to 5/10.

Ambience: 1/10. We sat inside and it was really hot and stuffy. I found it hard to enjoy my food and even moved seat once, to no success. A fruit fly could even find it comfortable at this temperature and flew inside my glass of red wine.

Service: 5/10. Unfortunately, only one waiter speaks serviceable english and the first waiter got our order wrong. Do bear in mind that they do serve a complimentary glass of sparkling white wine which is nice.

Overall: 2/5. Try to avoid their T-Bone steak and Veal, which are rather tough. Try to sit outside as it is...

Fabulous Trattoria. Staff were welcoming ; helpful and attentive. The service excellent. The complimentary glass of prosecco and carafes of limoncello were a lovely surprise and made our last evening in Florence really special . Our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. The steaks in particular were a real winner. Unlike a previous reviewer our party of nine were overwhelmed by the size of the portions, so much so that we didn't order desserts, however, the chef very generously provided us with taster plates...another lovely touch.
