We booked two triple rooms. One was decent but the other was gross and looked nothing like on the website. It was much smaller, didn’t have a sofa or refrigerator, and had a very outdated bathroom.
Two of us went to the reception to request for a room change, and since we didn’t want to call their hotel nasty, we asked for a room with a different bed configuration, which we shouldn’t have because that just confused the staff. Later, we finally settled on changing rooms the next day as that same day was fully booked out. The staff (clean-shaven man) told us to pack up our luggage the next morning and leave it in the room and they would move our luggage to the new room.
We did as instructed and the next afternoon, we went back to the reception to ask for our new room number. The staff (woman with red braids) said that we were supposed to check out of the hotel room, and since we didn’t, the room we requested for was given to someone else. Now, English is our first language so there is no way we BOTH misheard or misinterpreted what he said. It’s not the accent either as I used to have an Italian colleague who had an even thicker accent and I had no problem understanding him. I should have recorded that conversation. The words “check out” never left his mouth. So, it’s either that he genuinely forgot to tell us this vital piece of information or he did it on purpose to set this lady up to face our (understandable) frustration. If it’s the latter, I feel bad for her that her co-worker is sabotaging her like this. If it’s the former, I have no sympathy because her attitude was so dismissive and passive aggressive from the start.
In the end we were moved to an equally shitty room but at least it had a refrigerator which my dad needed for his medication. It was still small, there were no hooks for towels or clothes in the bathroom and the single bed was placed directly in front of the main door and toilet. The air conditioning was weak and it leaked.
That also begs the question: since this other shitty room was available on day #2, even if we didn’t check out of our original room, couldn’t they have still reserved the room we requested for us? There are other unoccupied triple rooms in the hotel, no? What’s the logic there?
To summarise, if you’re happen to get a good room, then this b&b is a pretty good option. If you’re unlucky and get one of the nasty rooms, then the price is not worth it at all considering it’s a 20-minute walk from the city centre.
Skip the breakfast too! The selection is very limited and the eggs have a strange spongy texture similar to the eggs served on planes. You can get a good quality sandwich in the city centre for...
Read moreHello, My friend and I checked in on the 3rd of march 2023 and were immediately met with one of the most unpleasant women I’ve ever had the displeasure to meet. My friend was waiting in line to check in and was right away told to “go sit down, can’t you see i’m very busy???!!”. My friend then sat down and when she was finished with the other costumers, the lady snapped her fingers at my friend for her to come over and was extremely rude the entire interaction for no reason. No hello and no goodbye, just a very snarky attitude. I understand that usually it seems like people are overplaying the bad reviews, but this lady was so incredibly rude to us before we even got a word out. We got into the bedroom (that cost us ONE HUNDRED EUROS PER NIGHT) and find this filthy and scratched up room, looking like it was used as a dungeon before we came in. Everything was dusty, the ar conditioning didn’t work, the safe didn’t work, the TV didn’t work, etc. We didn’t say anything in fear of being stabbed by the receptionist. My friend is very allergic to mold, and spent the entire night coughing and turning, and when we woke up the next morning we inspected the room and found the windows and AC caked in mold, it was appalling for a 100€ bedroom. We asked the lady at the reception on the morning of the 4th march to change bedrooms, and she did. I can’t say she didn’t help us, but she wasn’t very happy to do it either. We were made to feel as if we were a burden to the hotel, no amenities provided and no care shown for the well-being of my friend, who’s a human being who at that point was feeling very poorly. The room given to us was at least clean, but the floor was still in the same condition and the walls were all dirty. We checked out on the 5th and I can confidently say that I will tell everyone who will listen to not come here. What an incredible disappointment...
Read moreThis place is a big case of so close but so far.
Let's look at the good. First it's clean and location is quite good. It's a short walk to everything you want to see in Florence and the area feels very safe at night to walk back to. The service we received throughout our stay was very good as well. Moderate things were the breakfast which was just ok and cost €7.20 per person. Room amenities were pretty moderate as well. Now to the negatives.... Sadly. The bed for a queen is as per normal two singles stuck together. Other places at least put a pillow top over the two so it kind of makes one bed but not here. The fitted sheet was all the was holding these two singles together. Plus the two singles weren't even the same height so myself and my wife were literally at two different levels in bed. The walls are so thin if someone sneezes two rooms away, we heard it. This wouldn't be so bad if people didn't party up and make huge amounts of noise all night, but this was common. Third one was the shower. This hotel suffers some strange water issues. Our shower (and sink tap) had two modes. If you didn't put the shower onto max pressure, it would switch between bitterly cold and painfully hot every 2-3 seconds for the whole shower. I picked bitterly cold as it was less painful for the times I would be under the water. We then figured out if you go max pressure, it would even out the water temperature. This is great except max pressure meant the water now stabbed like 1000 needless the entire shower and was once again painful. I guess the best part of about shower was I'm now a skilled shower ninja who takes 2 minute showers to avoid pain. Would I stay here again?.. No. Although the people were awesome and it was clean & safe, nothing beats a good bed and a nice shower. This place lacked what I need to feel happy and...
