For our last night in Florence, hubby wanted to have Florentine steak one more time. I found Trattoria San Lorenzo that was near our hotel and had it on the menu. We were a bit iffy about going at first, because we weren't sure if it would be a tourist trap. We tried to avoid any restaurants overlooking piazzas (this one overlooked Piazza di San Lorenze, hence the name) because they tend to be traps. We decided to take a risk, because it looked pretty nice, so we made reservations at the restaurant for 8 PM that night (Friday night). The food was good, but nothing amazing.
To start, we had the sausage crostini. It came out a bit undercooked, and they explained that that's generally how it's cooked there. But since I'm pregnant, I didn't want to take any chances, so they were happy to make it well done for us. It was the perfect appetizer, and the sausage had a really nice flavor to it. For my main, I had the lasagna with meat sauce because I read a lot of reviews raving about it. It was good but nothing special. Hubby got the steak he was wanting and he said it was a bit chewy. After dinner, we each ordered our own dessert. He had what the waiter described as a pistachio tiramisu (which is what had caught our eye in front when we first entered the restaurant), and I had the panna cotta. Both were great, but I liked my panna cotta more.
While the meal was good overall, I don't think it's a restaurant that would pull be back again if I return...

Or the Chef accidentally split inside the pasta with Wild boar Ragu a full container of cinnamon powder or I can't describe the flavour of this pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale ! And I come from a Hunter family 🤣 anyway the duck Ragu wasn't that bad the only thing that the meat was a bit old or not well treated , cause it smelled bad and as I said I ate lots of duck in my life !! Anyway the Lasagna voto 10 ....Amazing lasagna , very creamy besciamella and very nice Ragu , even if was made out of a different cut of the animal than normal !! Read moreAfter a long afternoon of exploring, we decided to wander the city looking for somewhere to stop off for dinner. Tucked away in the corner overlooking a small plaza in front of Basilica di San Lorenzo we found Trattoria San Lorenzo. This authentic restaurant screamed Italy; with a large deli counter filled with fresh meats, a small bakery section, and a floor to ceiling display of various bottles of wine - wow!
To start, we tucked into a charcuterie board, filled with a selection of cold Tuscan meats, bread, and pickled vegetables. Following this, we opted for 2 different outstanding pasta dishes: The ricotta cheese and spinach stuffed tortellini with truffle and porcini mushroom cream was honestly, the best pasta ever!!
Can’t recommend this...
