Lucany Ristorante — Restaurant in Matera

EXCELLENT FOOD. It was a bit hard for us to find, but worth the effort. The atmosphere in the front patio area is more casual and eclectic, while the dining room inside the cave area is more elegant. This was not casual comfort food in heaping portions. The dishes we had were creative and well thought out. Flavors were rich but delicately balanced, and portions were just enough. Oddly, the restaurant was entirely empty during our 2 hour visit. I hope that this place gets enough business to stay open because the menu was a treat at every turn.

My wife and I shared: One of the evening's specials, which was fig with black truffle and crispy cured ham Yellowfin Tuna Cubes with Crusco Breading and Black Cherry Chutney Paccheri with Scampi Tartare, Cheese, Pepper and Lucanian Capocollo chips Braised Cod with Cacio e Pepe cream and Crusco Pepper The house made desert, which was a lemon mille-feuille and chocolate covered dehydrated pepper.

This place is absolutely hidden treasure! Incredible location, still on the touristic way of sassi, but still with its privacy and elegance! Smooth jazz music, artistic atmosphere and the dishes are absolute piece of art! For normal and like everywhere around price you have experience, rich and balanced taste and presentation you can enjoy at some really poshy places. Very good service, smiley people, including the owner, also- the chef personally served some plates. I honestly can say- the desert was probably the best in my life! (Taking in consideration I am not into sweets :) Balance, atmosphere, service and amazing food in the heart of Matera- my POI number one for the area! P.s. recommend figs with tartufo, the octopus with this unbelievable lemon sauce and of course- their surprise...

A “hidden” gem in Matera - not only the view from outsides seats is breathtaking, but also the lovely decorated location, and the hearty hospitality of Elenio is unique! The delicious menu satisfies any taste, and reaches from fish and seafood (dishes we haven’t tried, but observed happy faces of other customers) to local specialties (like the yummy recipe of Elenio’s grandma - full grain pasta with an super tasty meat sauce), Orecchiette in a typical local pepper sauce 🌶️, and on top any of the meat dishes are a culinary delight for the senses!
