Tried many number of winning pizzas in Italy, Europe and other places….And I must congratulate the Pizza Master Chef for his notable ability to twist the flour and dough into an artisan tasty pizza, and yet it’s quite light on the stomach and swiftly digestible. Bravo to attaining such a high caliber and proving the excellence right from the first look and bite.
Am sure, any pizza you’ll order there and eat freshly at Piu Sud, will click your tasting buds and ignite those happy signals to your senses.
As understood from the Chef, they hand select and carefully pick the top quality and fine food ingredients from their best sources and farms at Italy.
A good note is reserved for the active customer attention and care, with responding to our needs, within short intervals.
Apart from the multiple options that you’ll find in the menu (which the Chef created with passion and attention), I loved in particular the “Calabria (New)” from the section titled “Heading for the Pizzas of the South”. In that Pizza, all ingredients were orchestrated and collectively created that deliciously shocking taste. I like to repeat visiting the great Matera for enjoying other bites of other fine selections.
What elevated the dimension of the experience, is the cave style setup, which Sassi of Matera is famous for. The rocky structure and modern decoration have collectively merged and resulted in a long memorized experience.
My thanks to the service team, the pizza makers and the Chef/Owner, for bringing such a quality food and distinctive cuisine to the unique nature of the lovely Matera.
See you soon...
Read moreWe ate at this restaurant twice. Our first experience was good, but our second experience was horrible. Let me break it down: Food - the pizzas are top notch, you cannot fault these. Perfect and delicious. We ordered the diavolo, fresh pork sausage and mushroom and ham pizzas. We had the shrimp tagliatelle during our first lunch, it was really delicious. For Our second lunch, the staff made a recommendation to order calamarata with yellow tomatoes and shrimp. This was honestly the worst pasta i have had in Italy. Very undercooked, was not al dente. And did not taste good or even passable. My biggest problem is the service. Calling it too slow is an understatement. The lady who was serving us during our second visit was just not interested in serving us or anyone else for that matter. She would not respond to requests, did not bring sharing plates.. so much so that i had to get up and walk over to the manager to ask for plates so that we could start eating. Also, the food takes a hell lot of time to come out of the kitchen.
Go here if you want to eat a great pizza with really really slow and poor service. Its just unfortunate that the service quality and some dishes are hampering this...
Read moreIn researching the best pizza restaurant in beautiful Matera, this particular place won public opinion hands down. Great food and good service was the general consensus. So the opportunity to eat at Più Sud on our last night in Matera was non negotiable. We either came on an off night, or the general quality of service (as depicted in the reviews) is considered totally acceptable for the that region in Italy. We experienced very ordinary service! No vibrant, welcoming or warm personalities, nor or any sense of professionalism from the waiting staff whatsoever! The very elegant lady in charge of co-ordinating the evening´s proceedings looked a perplexed and a little stressed. And it took several minutes for staff members to acknowledge that we had been standing there looking like lost sheep. The redeeming feature of the night was the thoroughly delicious meal and almost perfect surroundings. We WILL return some day. Because the food is THAT good! But should one dine out at a popular and well recommended restaurant known for serving great food, but at the sacrifice of average service? Should restaurants be...
