From the moment I stepped into Gina Sorbillo Pizzeria in the bustling heart of Milan, I knew I was in for an exceptional culinary experience. This Neapolitan gem, a beacon of authenticity and flavour, has etched a delightful mark on Milan’s pizza scene, offering a slice of Naples in the Lombard capital. The Atmosphere: A Homage to Naples Gina Sorbillo’s ambiance marries simplicity with a buzzing vibe, creating a delightful blend of Milanese chic and Neapolitan warmth. The décor, with its charmingly rustic touches, transports you straight to the heart of Naples. The open kitchen adds to the experience, allowing diners to witness the magic of pizza-making in real-time. This lively backdrop is perfect for gatherings, be it with friends, family, or a solo adventure. The Service: Exemplary and Welcoming The service at Gina Sorbillo is nothing short of exemplary. The staff, wearing genuine smiles, are quick to make recommendations, ensuring that every guest feels like part of the Sorbillo family. Their knowledge of the menu and the story behind each dish adds a personal touch to the dining experience. The Pizza: A Culinary Masterpiece Now, let’s talk about the main event – the pizza. Gina Sorbillo’s pizza is a testament to the art of Neapolitan pizza-making. The dough, having undergone a meticulous fermentation process, is light, airy, and digestible – a perfect canvas for the array of high-quality toppings. The Margherita, a classic choice, was a revelation. The San Marzano tomatoes were sweet and tangy, the mozzarella di bufala creamy and rich, and the basil fresh and aromatic. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavours, paying homage to the simplicity and brilliance of Neapolitan cuisine. For those seeking adventure, the menu offers a variety of creative toppings. The ‘Nduja pizza was a particular standout, with its spicy spreadable sausage creating a delightful contrast with the sweet tomatoes and creamy cheese. The Sides and Drinks: Complementing Perfection No meal at Gina Sorbillo is complete without sampling their sides and drinks. The salads are fresh and vibrant, providing a crisp contrast to the pizza. The selection of Italian wines and craft beers is impressive, each carefully chosen to complement the pizza’s rich flavours. The Desserts: A Sweet Finale The dessert menu at Gina Sorbillo is a sweet testament to Italian culinary tradition. The Tiramisu, creamy and with the perfect balance of coffee and cocoa, was a delightful way to end the meal. Sustainability and Community: A Responsible Choice Gina Sorbillo’s commitment to sustainability and community involvement adds another layer of satisfaction to the dining experience. Sourcing ingredients from local producers and engaging in community projects, Gina Sorbillo isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a responsible member of the Milanese community. Final Thoughts: A Must-Visit Destination Gina Sorbillo Pizzeria is more than just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Italian culinary excellence. It’s a place where every bite tells a story of tradition, passion, and flavour. Whether you’re a pizza aficionado or a curious foodie, Gina Sorbillo in Milan is a destination that promises and delivers an unforgettable dining experience. So, if you find yourself in Milan, make sure to stop by – your taste buds will thank you.

TLDR: excellent marinara. staff could be more attentive While the marinara pizza at this centrally located Italian restaurant is undeniably outstanding, the Mozzarella Bufala falls short of the same mark. The Tiramisu adds a sweet note to the meal. The budget-friendly prices are a definite plus, but the hit-or-miss ambience and inattentive staff present a mixed dining experience. My return to this restaurant chain in Milan after a positive experience in Rome left me with conflicting impressions. The pizza is a definite highlight, boasting a flavorful crust and quality toppings that make it a must-try. The marinara, surpassing expectations, is a true delight for the taste buds. Unfortunately, the Mozzarella Bufala doesn't quite reach the same heights, leaving room for improvement. The Tiramisu provides a satisfying conclusion to the meal, with a well-balanced sweetness. The central location is convenient, but the ambience could use refinement. The staff, while not particularly responsive, can make it challenging to get their attention. Despite the low prices, the quality of the food compensates for the hit-or-miss service. Be prepared for potential waiting times, especially during peak hours; arriving early helped us secure a table without delay. Overall, a worthwhile visit for the delicious pizza and marinara, but improvements in ambience and staff attentiveness would elevate the dining experience.

This place certainty gets a lot of hype on line. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to it. I had no problem with waiting. At noon on a weekday there were maybe 10 people waiting, and we all got seated right away. I was there for an hour and it got busy, but didn’t fill up. On the plus side, the pizzas are huge. I can eat a lot and struggled to get through one. Maybe it was because I started with a buffalo mozzarella caprese salad. The mozzarella was really superb, and the reason I gave this place three stars. The tomatoes were terrible, tasteless and nearly crunchy, and the basil absent. The pizza was a margarita with buffalo mozzarella. It was totally disappointing. The cheese wasn’t nearly as good when cooked, and worst of all the crust was not good. It was soggy under too much tomato sauce, and doughy on the edges. There was a nice, if strangely even, char on the crust that looked great, but tasted a bit strange. I appreciate a nice char on a pizza crust, but this was too bitter. Overall, if you need to wait, I suggest you definitely go somewhere else. However, if you do go here, at least treat yourself to one of the salads or antipasti that includes the excellent buffalo mozzarella!

Had the margharita pizza, pasta carbonara, and Calamaretti spillo fritti. The Calamari as a starter, was one of the best I've had. The carbonara - while it wasn't spaghetti, and tasted a bit saltier than I've had from joints in Italy previously (maybe it's the Pecorino) - was incredible. The morsels of bacon/guanchale they used was just right in terms of how crunchy and salty they were, and the egg-based sauce was glorious. The crust on the pizza was one of the best, doughy, pillow-y crusts I've ever had, though the structural integrity from the pizza itself left a little bit for want, but it could be forgiven given the delicious sauce. All in all, between the above mentioned three items + 2 soft drinks, came to less than 50E which was a nice bargain. We opted to sit outside (it was about 3-4 degrees) because they had the outdoor heaters which kept us very comfortably warm and ensured we didn't have to wait in line. Incredible that this place was less busy than the more tourist-y places given that i'm sure the food is much better!
