Hazama — Restaurant in Milan

We found this restaurant by chance on our last day in Milan. We stopped in for lunch and booked the kaiseki dinner for the same night. The food is incredible, the service was wonderful - and switched easily between Japanese, Italian, and English to accommodate all of us - and for most of our meal we were alone in the restaurant, so had the opportunity to speak to the chef multiple times. Each dish was beautifully presented and exceptionally well balanced. As a friend of the Japanese cuisine, I did a reservation for the Kaseiki tasting menu, during my weekend in Milan! The hours in the Hazama were quite an experience! Not only were the courses exemplary, the whole time was an experience. The restaurant got only a few tables and everything on it was perfectly arranged and sorted out. The same goes for the presentation of the dishes and for the service as a whole. Ever present, never loud or frantic! From the moment when they answered the phone to take our reservation, they were gentle, kind, courteous and calm and when we arrived we were welcomed with the same sense of warmth and hospitality. We came as a party of six to celebrate a special occasion and we were all amazed by the sheer artistry, skill and delicate balance of the flavours. The eight course dinner is a culinary experience that far exceeded our already high expectations. The waiter is passionate about Japanese culture and the chef came to greet us several times.
