Pizzeria Trattoria da Franco — Restaurant in Milan

My family and I dined at the Grotto Ristorante in Houston last month. Their pizza oven with the fancy stack probably cost much more than the entire da Franco restaurant. My pizza was terrible. The crust was soggy and the pizza was tasteless. My pizza at da Franco however was amazing. I took my time and ate the whole thing. I actually wanted to bring half back to the hotel but couldn't stop. I truly appreciate the passion that family run restaurants like da Franco have in their food. My pizza was crunchy and flavorful. I slowly enjoyed every bite. Hate to admit this but I had one of the chef's special prior to the pizza. It was a seafood pasta dish with I think pita bread in olive oil. I used the bread to clean up every drop of sauce. This is a must place to visit if you're in Milan. The food and service exceeded my expectations at any price. Thank you...

Recommended to this place by a friend of ours who live in Milan, turned out to be the best dinner we had in the city. This small Pugliese restaurant has everything a perfect restaurant has to offer, amazing food, great non pretentious atmosphere, great wine and friendly staff and owner. We had both grilled seafood, Melanzane, Scallopini di Porcini—and they were to die for. The fava beans and spinach side was unexpectedly delicious—and arguably the star of the meal. On a chilly November night we ran across the street from the AC Hotel to grab a few take out pizzas. What we didn’t expect from da Franco was one of the best pizza experiences we’ve had after a month of pizza tasting throughout all of Italy! Actually, da Franco isn’t a pizza-to-go establishment.
