Caution! Spoilt food! We asked the waiter to pack chicken biryani and cheese cutlet for dinner. While they were packing the food, some other guest who was dining outside, gave back the biryani and went away. These waiters suspiciously took our packed biryani to the kitchen, brought it out, sealed and gave it to us. When we unpacked the food, to our shock we got a stinking biryani. It was smelling so bad that we doubt it might have been lying in the restaurant for more than a day and shalimar served a stale food. When we took the biryani to shalimar and told them that it is spoilt, the waiter said "This is not Pakistan or India were you can get back the food and we will return your money." When I told him why do you sell stale food, he replied "things once gone out of our restaurants are no longer ours! The point is that, the waiter knew the biryani and cutlet was not good to eat but he still packed it for us, even after the other customer refused to eat. These guys are cheaters, they will sell any thing to make money. Please viewers, I have taken time to write this comment so that you be aware of this restaurant. It is not worth eating here because the price is less. They sell for less price because it...
Read moreThe university of milan , which is close to this restaurant, appointments this restaurant as a place for students who have the scholarship to enjoy a free meal (within 5.7 euro ) . Means the restaurant can get the same amount of money back from the Italian state . But I had been there twice , I found the owner of the restaurant charged the student card by a pos machine first and then he did not offer the food at the same price . So many restaurant works with university , to accept students to eat there during the weekend , Shalimar is the only restaurant which charges the money from the student card first and then tells student he can only order a 2 euro chicken roll . And this restaurant do not accept student card during the lunch time . If you try to ask question in English , he pretends he could not understand at all . But an Indian owner who can not speak English in the center of milano ? Honestly If he hates students to eat at his place so much I do not know what is his purpose to work with...
Read moreWe were craving halal Indian food and found this place on TripAdvisor. It was a little out of the way but was worth the 15 minute walk from the Cathedral.
We ordered vegetable biriyani (which was moist and delicious), chicken tikka masala (fresh and full of flavour), lamb curry (somewhat bland and a lot of fat on the meat), shami kebab (tasted great!), a meat samosa (over fried and average in taste) and carrot halwa (which was warmed up and was nice).
Thoroughly enjoyed the biriyani with the chicken tikka masala. Tasted lovely. All the above (with two drinks), cost us around 20€ which was great value. Portions were generous.
The owner is a lovely man and was very hospitable and even gave us a free dessert. The food was tasty on the whole and we'd definitely go back on another...
