I have mixed feelings about reviewing this place, because I can see that when people say anything about the price they paid being high, there is a response by the venue saying it's not true! But the fact is when we ate their over the Easter holidays, it was a very expensive snack lunch (just under 50 Euros). But perhaps that's also on us...we should have clearly asked for prices in advance (we weren't offered a menu, the waiter basically suggested what we should order) and we should have asked for an itemised bill (he just called out the price to us - the cafe was quite busy by then) and he also said they only take cash, although I see in another review they've responded to say that they do also take cards. I felt it went from being a friendly interaction with a waiter who speaks very good English, to feeling like we had been scammed.
I wish I'd read some of the other reviews first. Clearly some people love it here, and that's great. But my personal opinion was that they were definitely on the lookout for tourists like us, who were fresh off the early morning arrival plane and hadn't really got the hang of being in Naples yet!
The food itself was okay. Not the best I had in Naples, and quite heavy. The place is very near...
Read moreI searched for highly rated Pizza places near our accommodation for our first trip to Napoli, and we had to check this place out. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman (I'm sorry, I didn't ask your name!) who served us quickly with beer, wine, and Aperol Spritz.
I unfortunately don't speak Italian, so when he asked a question and made a "rectangle" shape with his hands I thought he asked if we wanted a menu, but we were brought a board with 3 different foods on them, all of which were delicious! Very happy to have made that error haha the cheese and tomato fried pizza was absolutely delicious. We were so surprised that it wasn't oily - clearly cooked very well. The other dishes included vegetables, cheese, and more yum pizza style dough. We ordered some arancini with ragu, and also had another fried pizza with our second round of drinks.
Everything we ate and drank was great, the prices were excellent, and the service was perfect. I even learnt some Italian! Marito, Suocera, Suocero 😁 Thank...
Read moreAs others have said, this is your archetypal tourist trap, which casts a bad reputation and shame upon Italians.
Although the owner might claim the place is a pizzeria by the cathedral, one cannot justify the expense for a light snack. For 3 golf-ball-sized arancinis & some sort of ham pasty (all reheated in a microwave and genuinely verging on inedible), 2 cokes and 1 Campari soda, we were charged 35€.
Our biggest mistake - and of many others here - is that you should ask for the prices before you order. The seller who does not provide prices or a menu will fleece you any day!
Steer away unless you want a spot of poorly-made, reheated food at...
