Whilst the location is great, pretty much everything about Sorbillo on via Palepoli made me think this was the second worst experience I have had in a long time. Start with the service, the manager or head waiter is rude and unwelcoming. The legendary Sorbillo pizza is one of the worst I've had anywhere...soggy and with an overabundance of ingredients. About the place itself, the room inside is absolutely to be avoided, without ventilation, poorly decorated and grotty. Outside, it's better but only if you like the repetitive techno which is on a loop and drove me to distraction. My family (there were five of us) rated it as the second worst pizzeria we have had during our 6-week trip in the south of Italy. Avoid even if the prices are, I must admit out of fairness, very reasonable...I simply do not understand the queue that I found outside Sorbillo the previous evening. I thought this must be one of the best place for a pizza and my children aged between 9 and 15 really wanted to like the place. Sorbillo does not live up up to its reputation, our experience was a complete disappointment on...
Read moreI ordered pizza Marinara 3.0 which according to the menu had cheese, olives and etc. They bring me a regular Marinara. I told the waiter that I ordered something else and he insists that this is the Marinara 3.0 several times. Ok, I started my pizza, hoping the extra stuff is maybe hidden and I am wrong 😂 But no... Just a regular Marinara for the price of "special one". Before the payment, I again outline that what I ate was nothing like what I ordered, I showed the remainings in the plate and the pictures and after one more time telling me that I am wrong, the waiter in the end agreed this is a regular Marinara. And very disappointed said "Ok, I will change the price in the check". Then he asked if we want a pizza or coffee for free (yes, we just had pizza and coffee, why not another one?!). We refused and just paid. There was coperto, but we had nothing outside our order like in all other places we've been. The pizzas are good and if the waiter was not trying to trick us with more money on the check, everything would...
Read morePizza was pretty good but not particularly better than other joints.
The ridiculous thing was when I was trying to pay for the bill, the staff reminded me tips are not included and asked if I am happy to pay for an amount suggested by staff, which is $5 or $7 Euros higher than what we ordered, I felt pressured to give them the money.
Guys don't feel pressured to give them tips if you think they don't deserve it.
Apart from taking our order and delivering our foods to our table, they didnt really do much. This is not America where restaurant workers are expecting tips because restaurant workers in America get tips which commensurate with how good their customer service are, etc.
If I were given a chance to pay for the bill again, I'd only pay them what I ordered or a much smaller...
