Me and friends (a group of 13 and 1 baby one year old) came to have dinner under the recommendations of our Airbnb host. We told the waiter we didn't want to eat much so that we would share appetizers and have our mains. The waiter offered to bring mixed appetizers which sounded nice. They brought a ton of food and we kind of forced ourselves to eat more than what we wanted. To our surprise at the bill they counted 1 appetizer per person including the baby! Also we ordered food for the baby so they also counted a service charge (coperto) which is very unusual. The food was generally good. I personally chose the pasta with prawn and pistachio. I personally find it very oily but I am told that is the Napolitan way. Our other friend didn't particularly like the pizza. However everyone agreed the house white wine, coming in a jug, was pretty bad, oxidised. One of our friend that left early had contributed to pay €17 to the bill for the only dessert he had and bites of appetiser. When the waiter gave the bill, he showed us the bill was 502.5€ and that he reduced to 490€. To that he removed the cost of the tiramisu of our friend, making a total of 479.5€. We then reminded the waiter that our friend contributed by 17€. To that the waiter replied that No, he paid 10€ for his tiramisu and gave €7 for tip! What a lie! The waiter would also not acknowledge that the baby should not be counted as an adult for the appetiser and even got angry at us to "bargain" for the bill. So, instead of reducing the price he decided to remove his "discount" and brought back the cost to 492€! I had never seen that attitude in my life! At the end we paid 480€ but one should have not got through all the troubles. As a result we paid €40 per person. So a big recommendation for groups going there, just be clear about the quantity you want to have and don't bring your babies if you don't want them to be...
Read moreThe waiter or owner was rude beyond belief. We ate a big breakfast that morning and just arrived in Naples. We were not that hungry and just eager to try out what Naples has to offer.
I ordered a seafood spaghetti. The guy said each person must order a dish with a stern face. So I ordered another pizza and one water to share. Again, the guy said each person must order a drink. Another drink was ordered but he was visibly upset after the order. My wife and I ordered a seafood spagetti, a pizza, a lemondae and a water. One other couple ordered a expresso but was served in a plastic contaier. My guess is that he was thinking "unbelievably cheap tourists".
I found that at the next table there were 5 Italians dining. They all ordered inexpensive pizzas and shared one water.
We came from Northern Italy and had a very good experience with Italy. The south seems to be different in a negative way. This is really an experience of my life...
Read moreWorst experience in Napoli ever, the waiter was so arrogant and rude, the food is overpriced, not recommended
Plus: The owner is really racist, saying food is overpriced doesn’t mean I can’t afford it but means the poor little mussel and the horrible service doest not worth the price.
We ordered over 70 euros of food for two person, even though we didn’t enjoy the food we still tried to buy a pasta for take away before we leave, just to give it another chance. YET after calling for 6 time neither the waiter not the owner came.
We also tried to ask for the dessert we ordered after meal, which also wasn’t served, and they have the ball to ask for service fee.
If you can’t afford proper food and service, just go outside and beg for some changes, it’s probably easier that way.
And by the way, try to look at your customer’s eye and complain in English rather than just mumble in Italian knowing that they don’t understand.
