I visited Pomodorino Cafe and was surprised to encounter an very unpleasant situation. After enjoying my coffee and croissant, my bill came to €6. Expecting to pay by card, as I had done in most cafes throughout my travels in Italy, I asked the owner if they accepted cards. To my shock, the owner suddenly became angry and shouted very loudly that they only accept cash, despite having card machines visible on the counter. I tried to communicate using Google Translate, offering to quickly fetch cash from my Airbnb across the street, leaving my iPhone 15 as collateral to ensure I wouldn't flee as I didnt' have cash with me. However, his response was even louder and more aggressive, drawing attention from everyone in the cafe around us. Fortunately, a kind Italian customer stepped in and generously paid the bill for me. I hurried back to my Airbnb, retrieved the cash, and ran back to the cafe to repay him, deeply grateful for his kindness.
The owner's rude reaction left me feeling judged and misunderstood against, as if I intended to avoid payment. Most people I've met in Italy have been friendly, but this experience at Pomodorino Cafe was disappointing, and I cannot recommend this cafe. If you do visit, be sure to carry cash to avoid...
Read moreI've been here twice, once on an evening dinner date and once in the afternoon for just some drinks. The experience was so different in the night than in this afternoon drinking today. First time we have had a decent dinner. This second time we wanted to taste limoncello, so went inside, into the air conditioned area, sat down and ordered. We did not expect what came next: the waiter asked us to leave and then explained that the other part of the restaurant, the bar is there for us and we can't order drinks and gelato in the "restaurant part" (difference: there was tablecloth on the tables). It is "for dinner". (5pm) So I'd suggest if you pay a visit here do it after 6pm as there's a polite old man (who actually speaks English well) and he is actually respectable person. The only reason this place deserves any stars - and get ravioli, that's some fine pasta...
Read moreThe staff was very helpful and nice, but the food was terribly. I ordered mushroom fettucine. At first it tasted alright, I mean I have eaten way better pasta but this was at least edible and I was hungry. After a while though the mushrooms started to turn slimy and I decided to quit while I was ahead. My boyfriend ordered a burger. It was sad to see how disappointed he looked when he got his meal. There was this lonely hamburger paddy sitting next a few lettuce leefs, grilled onions and crisps. His food ended up tasting deep fried water and minced beef (with no seasoning). To mention something positive as well, the tiramisu was a good basic tiramisu (and the piece was quite large as well) and their house red wine was...
