When we had our trip to Naples, I did my research like I always do. I wrote down the top 10 best pizza restaurants which were rated the "best" in all popular sites and by "critics". We went to them one by one, at some we had to wait almost for an hour to eat. Some were ok some were just blah. We were truly underwhelmed and we started wondering what the whole hype about "the best pizza in the world is in Naples". Then one day we were in the cab and I asked the taxi driver. He said "You have to eat at Ettore, it's where the locals eat". I wish I asked this question earlier cause it was almost the end of our trip. Long story short we ate at Ettore twice. We're now in the States and we're still dreaming about their pizza. We had Marinara each time. My husband hardly eats pizza without a kind of meat on it but the pizza, the dough, the Mozzarella, the sauce was just out of this world that he just wanted to savor that simple yet extraordinary pizza. We loved the staff we fell in love with the best pizza in the world and we're glad in a way that this place doesn't make the "top best" lists so that it can stay being locals' favorite and continue blowing the minds of picky eaters like us. Thank you for making us have that...
Read moreMy partner and I tried Ettore’s while on holiday on the basis of glowing reviews from the guide book, our AirB&B host and Google. Unfortunately our experience didn’t match expectations.
Had to wait 20 minutes for a table, which in itself wasn’t a problem as it was obviously busy. However after we were seated it was a further 20 minutes before anyone took our order, in which time tables that had arrived after us had already received drinks and food. We ordered drinks (a bottle of house white wine and a bottle of water), starters and mains, however over 30 minutes later we hadn’t even received our drinks. Although the restaurant was busy, various waiters were standing around chatting/smoking while we were waiting. Meanwhile other tables were on second and third rounds of drinks. At this point we gave up and left, around an hour after we’d sat down.
I don’t know if it was because we were tourists, and therefore unlikely to be repeat customers, or not Italian speakers, but we ultimately felt unwelcome and ignored. Unfortunately I can’t say if the food would have redeemed the service as we didn’t get that far. I wouldn’t recommend it, we certainly won’t be...
Read moreWe were here last saturday and really curious what happened to us. we ordered 2 beers, 1 pizza and 1 dish of pasta to share for my couple and I. They didn't even take note and when they arrive to the table they didn't know what we ordered. I can not say food was bad, pizza was really good but my surprise came when I ordered the bill. The thing is that all the thinks we order were at the bill but they didnt show as an example 2 beers x 5,50 € each beer = 11. They just put beer 27,50€. We said to the waiter that the bill was not correct because it didnt just happened to us with the beer only. He tried to convince us that the beer they bring to us was bigger than the one we ordered and that was the reason of the prise. I showed to the man that the glass they put us the bier had a maximum of 0,4 cl so it couldnt be more expensive. In concluison I'm convinced that they saw us a foreigners and they tried to cheat on us. We finally paid what we had to pay that was 36 € when the bill they give us at the...
