Seemly fresh food, in my taste it was a teeny bit bland but overall great experience! (please read thorougly)🇮🇹
On my last day (04.07.2024) I decided to go to Ristorente di Mare - Molo 17, as their reviews where overwhelmingly positive. When I saw how they decorated their restaurant I was pleasently surprised by how cute and well thought out it was. They also had big tanks for the fresh fish, mussels and crabs.
I asked the waiter for takeaway, so I could eat it before my flight. When I finally got the taste of my food it wasn‘t bad, but also not good as I expected.
I ordered the (mouthful) “Spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino su letto di carpaccio di gamberi con sbriciolata di tarallo napoletano“, the Spaghetti with Garlic, Oil, and Chil Pepper on a Bed of Shrimp Carpaccio (not do be confused with meat) with Neapolitan Torallo Crumble. The Shrimp tasted good, the noodles were cooked and you could definitely taste the garlic. In my opinion it needed a bit more sauce and flavours, but I would’ve loved to taste their broad menu with i.e. crab meat, If I had found their restaurant sooner. 6/10.
I also ate their homemade tiramisu and it was better than I expected. The portion of the base was little, but with it‘s sauce and sweetness more than enough. 8/10.
I’d like to add that I do not doubt their skills and I‘d surely pay them a visit if I‘d get the chance to fly back to Neaple.
Please also don‘t get confused with their opening hours in Summer. They close at around 15:00 and are open at 19:00 again. Not as described on Google,
All in all an interesting...
Read moreI did not like this place at all. I ordered cocktail shrimp, which in the menu indicated it was only the shrimp and cocktail sauce. They brought it with prosciutto all wrapped around and me being pregnant cannot have any. Told them this and showed them the menu, which indeed did not indicate the prosciutto, thought they would apologize and bring me something else. Nobody came to ask me what else to order, so I ordered a Spaghetti, they forgot to let the kitchen know, everybody in my party finished and when we asked, they just said “sorry we forgot” we will do your spaghetti now. We did not complain even then, even being pregnant and starving. I ate my spaghetti which was so so and then when we ordered the bill, when it arrived we saw they were charging the shrimp, we thought it was a mistake and when we let them know, they said that they made the shrimp dish so they had to charge it even if it was their mistake. Up till this point we had been extremely cordial and understanding that they made a mistake, in US you could probably sue for not indicating and ingredient in the menu. It was embarrassing the treatment we got, no empathy for a pregnant woman and no remorse for their mistakes, got extremely mad that we wanted for them to not charge us with the dish and treated us poorly for it. The food wasn’t even good. DO NOT...
Read moreYesterday evening I visited this restaurant and while the food was good, I was quite disappointed with the service.
The waitstaff were engaging in inappropriate behavior, making tasteless jokes about foreign customers, one after another. These jokes were in Neapolitan dialect, presumably to prevent non-Neapolitan customers from understanding. Unfortunately, I'm Neapolitan and understood everything. I brought it to their attention, and eventually, the particular waiter tried to apologize, but it only made things worse. According to him, he thought we were English. So, is it acceptable to offend the English?
To add to the disappointment, they even forgot one of the dishes we had ordered. In the end, they offered us two shots of limoncello as a gesture of apology, but the overall experience was still very negative. As a Neapolitan, I feel ashamed that foreigners are treated in such a manner. I sincerely hope that the restaurant management invests in better training for their waitstaff or considers hiring different individuals for the sake of their business and the reputation of Naples.
On a positive note, I would like to mention that one young waiter (non-Italian) was exceptionally...
