Edit: since the owner/manager of this establishment called me a liar in the response to this review, I will elaborate to be as clear as possible for future visitors. Revisited review:
The owner said we were not his clients. This is true, hence only the review about the ‘service’. We were clients dining at the restaurant opposite of his place (we were definitely not at a ‘bar’) and had just finished our wonderful dinner. (I recommend trying that restaurant - you will find the entrance opposite of this guy’s place). We were outside on the public road to say goodbye to each other before going home. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time and only some of us live in Napoli. On this narrow public road there are cars passing frequently so we had to get to the side to let them pass. The owner/manager of the restaurant clearly did not like to have any people blocking his entrance or being in the vicinity of his place. Somewhat understandable of course. We are a decent group of people and wouldn’t even bother writing a review if it wasn’t for this guy’s complete meltdown. Screaming at us and treating us as if we are less. He did not ‘ask’ us to please move a bit from the entrance to keep the entrance open, he was shouting at us a toddler who wasn’t getting what he wanted. Let me remind you that we were on a public road and forced to move towards the side of the road where his entrance is. We were not intentionally blocking his entrance, nor did we place 1 foot in the entrance or restaurant. We simply moved out of the way of a car. I’ve never witnessed a person going so mental over a situation that was so easy to resolve in a polite and normal manner. What a joke. Hope this helps.
I wish that this person develops some basic hospitality skills to deal with these type of situations (if you can even call it a situation, it was so weird). I think he will notice that people will generally be much more inclined to do him the small favour of moving a few meters to the side.
I would also like to challenge the owner to call me a liar again and share his side of the story. 🍿I’m ready.
Ideally, the owner/manager apologises for his extremely impolite and abnormal behaviour so I can consider removing the bad review.

Most disappointing service I have experienced in a very long time. The ‘manager’ is the most rude person you’ll ever come across. Avoid...
Read moreWe made the unfortunate mistake of trying a new place over our tried and tested favorite restaurant next door (Donna Margherita). The menu looked exciting and in life one should always try new things. The staff were completely oblivious to our presence for most of our visit. We watched other guests enter the restaurant up to 20 minutes after us place an order, receive their food, eat and then leave before we received our appetizer. The wait for our pizza's was even longer. So long that we lost the excitement of being in the birthplace of pizza and trying a new pie. When the pizza's finally arrived, they were quite frankly the most disappointing pizza's we've ever had. My girlfriend's marina had cold chunks of tomato in the middle and appeared unfinished, rushed or maybe it just sat for awhile in the kitchen. I tried one of the seasonal pizza's (forget the name, see the picture) and it was an atrocity. It's one thing to have bad food but coupled with bad service, it's a feeling I've never experienced in Napoli before. I have read how you respond to other negative reviews on Google Maps so I don't expect you to accept any wrongdoing on behalf of your staff but if people travel from around the world to have a pizza in the mecca of pizza and are served this mess, you bring shame to your wonderful city, the region of Campania and Italy as a whole. The only positive comments I can add are that the mozarella di bufula was excellent, nice selection of olive oil and the artwork on the wall was very expressive and nice to look at. Read moreWe made a reservation—I suggest you do the same, as the line was out the door after we were seated. The service was good, the house red was excellent, and the Pizza? I capitalized it on purposed. It was simply amazing. We ordered three different pizzas and all were outstanding. The dough was delicious. How often do you eat your pizza and leave the crust? Well, it will never happen here. My wife and I both ate our entire pizzas. We were shocked. Every bite was delicious. My daughter has celiac, so she ordered her pizza with a gluten-free crust. Usually when you do that you are settling for a sub-standard product. Again, not here. She said it was the best pizza she’s experienced. Although her crust was definitely different than ours, it was still excellent. We highly recommend Umberto’s to you. There are other pizza places in Napoli who claim to be the best. I won’t mention them here, but let me assure you—they are wrong. Umberto’s takes the pie to...
