So we heard about this place and showed up for dinner around 9:30p on a Thursday night. The host very nicely told us he wouldn’t be able to accommodate a party of 4 and to make a reservation …( Found a really good pizza place around the corner- with great cocktails) We were in 2 minds - whether to try for a reservation or just let it go.. and for our last night in Palermo, we tried to get a reservation. Now remember, when you ask for an appointment on their website, you need to wait for a confirmation, it’s not really making a reservation for you - just you asking for one (So, that is my one feedback - to change the system - we were out and about and didn’t check our messages until many hours later. The restaurant had declined our request and we went back and forth before they agreed to a 7:30p slot - which we didn’t really mind…Many places ask for a credit card and that’s ok, if it helps with this process) when we showed up, we were greeted cordially and immediately showed to our table. A server brought English menus over as she noticed us struggling with the Italian one, she brought water over quickly and our server Guisse, was also amazing! She recommended the pizza and I ordered it over the one I wanted and it was the absolute right choice! She was also patient with our discussion about the dishes since one of us is a vegetarian and the others only eat chicken. The absolute best part of my meal was the Kamut Siciliano flour that one of our pizzas was made of (check out the pic for the description- it’s exactly as described) … we talked to the owner later and he offered us the name of the grocery store that sells this flour (couldn’t make it there :/ ) and while chatting with him, he also offered us some limoncello to round up our meal and the night! We also ordered the fried burrata (I wouldn’t reorder it), bruschetta was good, and chips - yummy - crispy and not greasy! Still dreaming of the Kamut Sicilano crust! Wish I could have gotten the reservation on that first night so I could’ve had it again!!

Recently visited Funnaco on a trip to Palermo. I am quite the pizza enthusiast, and was very eager to come to Funnaco following the great reviews. I booked a table for the restaurants opening time, 19:30, and there was a queue upon arrival! I was warmly welcomed and offered the choice of sitting inside or outside - I chose inside. The staff were all very friendly and helped me to choose the right crust for me. I went for a neapolitan crust Margherita. This was one of the best pizzas i have had in my life. The crust was incredibly light with the perfect amount of char. I often find that neapolitan pizzas have be burnt at the bottom, but that was not the case with this one, and the char that was on the crust was just enough to compliment the sweet acidity of the tomato. The ratio of tomato sauce to mozzarella was perfect, and both were very fresh and flavourful. I liked the addition of basil but found the stalks were a bit tough on some pieces! The owner was very lovely and chatted to me as I left. I decided to come back the following evening for dinner! The pizza here was just as good, if not better, and the staff were again kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was also buzzing. The reason I have given 4 stars instead of one is because the second time I came my order came out wrong first. This was sorted quickly and was given the correct pizza. Unfortunately, no one apologised for the mistake, which was have been nice to stop me feeling like I had make a mistake! Still, I'd recommend Funnaco if you're after a great atmosphere, kind staff, and one of the best pizzas you'll ever have!

Came here without reservations with a party of four around 7:45 PM. We were able to be seated promptly before the dinner rush. Our server, Benedetta, was incredibly helpful with navigating the menu. We put our food and drink orders in and the appetizers came out quickly along with the drinks. We started off with the bruschette which was good, but not great, the chips Funnaco which were excellent sweet potato chips, pan burrata which was deliciously fried and the tomato sauce was awesome, and the crocché di latte which were amazing croquettes. There was a short wait between appetizers and the pizza, but it was well worth it. You choose your pizza dough: the classic doughs we ordered are what you would traditionally expect from an Italian pizza and the napoletano crusts we ordered were similar, but had a large, pillowy crust. They were both enjoyable. The diavola was good, but could’ve used a little more spicy salami. The Funnaco and zaera were great. The scaro was good, but very heavy in the stomach given the sweet potato and pumpkin on it. The tartelletta, arancio, and tiramisu all tasted great, however I wish they did a traditional tiramisu on a plate instead of the more modern approach of a mason jar. As we were leaving, we were offered lollipops and limoncello shots which was very gracious and delicious! Overall, we definitely recommend seeking this place out if you are looking for pizza in the area!

Absolutely five stars for Fúnnaco PizzaLab in Palermo! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. But the true star of our experience was our waitress, Bennadeta. Her service was phenomenal—attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food. She guided us through the menu with expert knowledge, and her recommendations were absolutely spot-on. We were looking for a unique pizza experience, and Fúnnaco delivered beyond our wildest expectations. The innovative flavor combinations and perfectly cooked crust were a testament to their dedication to quality and creativity. It was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable and best pizza experiences of my life. If you're in Palermo, do yourself a favor and visit Fúnnaco PizzaLab. And if you're lucky enough to have Bennadeta as your waitress, you're in for a truly exceptional dining experience. Grazie mille to the entire team!

Had a pizza night at this joint during our stay in Sicily, and I have to say, it ranked as the best over our three nights. The pizza did take a bit longer to arrive than expected, but it was worth the wait. A heads-up for fellow Brits: if you order chips, you'll end up with crisps. Seems like there's a bit of a language gap there. They were decent enough, though at 4 Euros a pop, I'd call them a pricey bowl of crisps. My Mojito drink left a lot to be desired, tasted more like lemon water with a mint leaf afterthought. On the other hand, my partner's Negroni fared better. Even on a Wednesday night, the place was buzzing. We managed to snag an outdoor table, but it's best to book ahead if you can. The pizzas were a real treat. It's a challenge to impress a seasoned pizza enthusiast, but they certainly met the mark. In short, this place comes highly recommended. I'm confident any meal here will hit the spot.
