La Traviata — Restaurant in Palermo

We had dinner 3 or 4 times here :) Absolutely loved it.

The atmosphere is of a nice trattoria mixed with a sports bar - if you love football you can sit on this side where they were playing Sky Sports , if you want more ambiance the indoor tables or the ones on the other side are for you :)

Service and staff : they were very welcoming, orders on point, prompt service and really no delays with being served.

Now the food : the menu is easy to read, there s a well built variety of local dishes. We tried : Sea food spaghetti, Risotto, Pizzas, Stinco de maiale (pork knuckle slow cooked) , mixed fried sea food…. I think we had sea food each time we visited : fresh and great taste!!!

The tiramisu is nice soft and not too much coffee (in case you don’t like coffee )

Because we enjoyed 2-3 courses and a bottle of local wine each time we were there the final bill was on the higher end. But I would say it’s very affordable considering mains are between 12-18€

I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to enjoy local cuisine !

What’s more they had a kebab stand freshly made in front of you - we have not tried that but people were popping in and the kebab chef was busy all the time with orders so that...

Oh dear, where do I start? It was a third restaurant on the square we ate at and the food and service was appallingly bad.

We waited for ages for our food to arrive only for one of us to be served the pasta. By the time I finished the meal, there was still no sign of the pizza my daughter ordered. If I had waited for the pizza, I would have eaten a cold dish.

I ordered farfelle with salmon and it looked like someone chewed the salmon, spat it out, and sprinkled too much parsley on it.

We ordered four cheese pizza and instead of, what I would expect, each quarter of pizza with different cheese, they were all mixed together, overpowered by gorgonzola and covered with a thick layer of oil. Didn't even look appealing. Tasted even worse. We had one slice, then asked for a bill.

When I asked for a bill, the landlord handed us a receipt (after some 10 minutes of waiting) and waited at the table for us to pay which made me very uncomfortable.

Oh, and water was served in plastic cups, just to compliment the look.

Probably one of the worst...

Great little restaurant, the salmon and shrimp sandwich was excellent and the pizzas at night spot on. Always quick with another Messina. Good prices, good service. UPDATE: We had out last meal in Palermo here and it was excellent a fine spaghetti vongole cozze e gamberi washed down with more Messina and a couple of limoncellos on the house finished off an excellent week in Sicily. Great staff I would recommend this restaurant to everyone...
