One of the best restaurants we’ve eaten at in Italy! We were in Palermo for a month and tried a few restaurants; nothing comes close to Trattoria Carpaccio for an authentic Italian experience.
The staff was warm, and welcoming, and our waitress made great recommendations.
From starters to desserts, everything was delicious and each course was better than the last one. The pasta plates we got were all very good, and well seasoned. As for the second course/main course, I rarely eat sea food but I tried their fish fillet and it really wow’ed me: one of the most tender fish I’ve had!
They also have an impressive wine selection, along with house wine. The place was packed with locals, which usually says a lot about the quality of the food :)
All in all, this is a MUST if you’re in Palermo and we’ll definitely try to go back once more before we leave.
We went back a second time on our last night, and it was the PERFECT way to end our stay in Palermo. Once again, the service was amazing, and the food was as good as it gets - one of my all...
Read moreFood is really good (but nothing special) and the ambience is dark yet cozy. However, as a tourist I felt treated like a 2nd class guest and was neglected, had to follow up on orders multiple times, and while all other guests around me were offered more drinks or dessert, I just sat there and had to actively attract attention for every little thing. There was at least one staff member who spoke English - with another table -, but my waiters kept talking to me in Italian without any consideration. And I’m European too, it’s not as if I didn’t know anything about the customs. When paying, the lady literally did not say a single word to me and instead handled the entire process silently. On the bill, the wine was suddenly twice as expensive as what I thought I had read in the menu, but I can’t outrule memory error on my side. All in all, such a shame that you are charged the same price as everyone else, but receive only half...
Read moreVery nice food in a traditional environment. Busy on a Monday night. Warm and welcoming service (although as evening progressed it felt like we’d been forgotten a bit). Very good value (esp for a very central location - it’s opposite Prada store) and we all had generous portions. Cosy trattoria environment. No terrace, but actually made a nice change to eat inside and a lot cooler! Lobster Ravioli delicious. Fresh tuna steak with black sesame was huge and very well cooked (if you like it on the medium rare side). Home made chips (which were nice & felt unusual vs our other experiences). Carbonara Roman style which we like but we found a touch too cheesy/salty. Bottle of nice house wine. All in all a very decent meal...
