Worst experience in Sicily!
This place is next door to my Airbnb so we decided to give it a try since it is so highly rated on Google. We were so disappointed in everything, I hope this review deters others so that they don't make the same mistake as we did. Most disgusting restaurant in food and in service.
We went in with 2 children under 3 so we ordered some beers and decide to get a few items off the a la carte menu and see how the kids felt before committing. We asked the waiter how the portions are and he said they are bigger than the all you can eat. So we ordered the beef dish and a sushi roll. We got ramen, the beef dish and 8 pieces of sushi. My husband didn't want to argue about the wrong ramen dish being sent so we decided to spend the extra money to get all you can eat. The food we ordered also didn't look very good so figured let's just get something off the all you can eat menu, maybe it will be better.
We switched to all you can eat and ordered a few items. In all the AYCE restaurants we have been at, the portions are 2 pieces of sushi or 1 or 2 pieces of tempura. Nobody mentioned that the portions would be the same as the a la carte menu, which were supposed to be bigger?! Each sushi roll I ordered was 8 pieces and the tempura for one person was 5 pieces.
In any case, too much food arrived, and no one bothered to explain anything to us . The seafood also tasted funky and stale. Everything was tasteless and quite frankly disgusting. We barely touched the food as the taste just made us want to throw up.
Ramen was instant noodles and my husband said he doesn't eat fish, and they still put fishcake in the ramen! He didn't eat it. Mind you, this dish is 9 euros a la carte.
The tartar salmon and tuna smelled very funky and off. Gag reflex when I tasted it.
No ginger no wasabi, and the soya sauce was water??
There are some dishes that came that I definitely did not order. I know for sure as we don't eat the things that came and I would never have ordered them. It's like they did it on purpose?
In any case, the owner didn't own up to anything and pretended to not speak English when I voiced my dissatisfaction. Very rude behaviour as they obviously don't care about their customers. I didn't want to get the staff in trouble as they majorly screwed up our orders and the food was subpar on top of that. I can't believe this restaurant is so highly rated. They obviously didn't care to give us any good customer service as we are obviously tourists.
Don't bother with this restaurant. They charged us 2 all you can eat, 4 euros in cover charges, 3 euros for the edamami that my toddler was playing with and 20 euros for the disgusting food that we couldn't eat.
Major disappointment.
Also the bathrooms are down 2 huge flights of stairs so not baby...
Read moreGood food, good service. I definitely have to change my review for this place, since I came back some other times and they were really nice and kind, and their service improved a lot, they are even more attentive than before and the food, the place, and the central location are wonderful.
Here is my old review: The food is fresh and tastes good, but the service was slow at first, maybe because the place was really crowded. They didn't bring us some of the food until the end, though. One of the waiters was actually REALLY GREAT, since he noticed we had been waiting for a while and he made sure everything we had ordered arrived. The all you can eat option is cheap and the place looks fancy - and you can have whatever you want from the rotating belt, so that's...
Read moreIt's wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. The sushi rice was amateuristic. The nigiri's we're molded like it's done by a child (it fell apart) . They try to do something 'new', but it isn't for me. I didn't like the sushi with basil, pesto and potato puree. Also the uramaki with gorgonzola was nasty. The ratio on the picture was like 10% gorgonzola. But in reality it was 90% gorgonzola. These ingredients doesn't belong in Japanese cuisine, in my opinion. Also the Indian waiters were a disappointment. It's like the empty bottles were invisible. Haven't collected them once. They were constantly talking to each other or on their phone. Not a single smile. Till my surprise when I went to the bathroom and walked by the kitchen. The chefs were also all...
