*Update after reading the owner's reply: did you see me consume beverages from outside? I respect business entities, if your policy is not to bring outside drinks, that's fine. But you can't make someone who doesn't want to drink, and force them to drink! Should have read the review section properly before going. With your arrogance, good luck in running your business.
I rarely post a review, so you must know if I do, there's a very important reason to do so. I was choosing between going back to Florence or having a dinner in Pisa first. I saw this restaurant being reccomended in both Google Map and social medias, and to be honest, the pizzas look really good. Despite not feeling hungry, I decided to defer my train and had what-should-be-the-best-pizza for me. I came with high expectations.
I arrived at 7.15pm, Google map says open at 7.30pm. I stand outside waiting for it to open, but at 7.28pm, when I asked, they said they're open all the while. So, no greetings when he saw me stand outside. Never mind, maybe not obvious enough to look like a potential customer...
The waiter was kind to explain the menu, and after taking some time to decide, I choose one of their premium pizza (€18++). Then, he told me, they have this 'law' to order drink in their restaurant. I said I don't want to drink, I'm full, I just wanna try your pizza. The waiter was kind enough to try to talk to his boss I assume, but still no. Furious, I left.
It's not I cannot afford to drink, but I really don't want to drink. How can you force your customer to buy something they don't want? Is this even lawful? They rather lose a customer who decided to pay for a premium pizza (average pizza price was only €10++), than earning the tiny costs of a drink. I don't get it!
It was a memorable visit to Pisa, unfortunately I had to leave with a tainted...
Read moreSo our last night in Italy we wanted to get a nice pizza… which we didn’t. Really highly reviewed but the wait time and service was genuinely shocking. I am all for the Italian relaxed vibe but this was a whole other ball park; 30 minute wait for just the initial drinks; not allowed to order our food; ordered our next drinks early (halfway through our first) still took another 30 minutes. 1.5 hours for our pizza to come, and that is literally the only thing on the menu so you’d assume some kind of normal wait time. I will say the pizza itself got some good reviews, for me personally I liked it but it was a standard good Italian pizza, for others they did rave about it. Finally, I can’t ignore the ‘charming’ waiter who acted like any interaction with us caused a toothache (and we were full of the standard ‘have previously been waitstaff’: pleases thank yous and I’m so sorrys). He also told us the pizza special ‘included the burrata’ and ‘wasn’t an extra €4’ (which I suspect was more lack of knowledge on the part of the waiter) but was an unpleasant addition to the bill, after a massive discussion the chef mostly rectified. As a final note we noticed some toxicity between the staff which was a sour taste and makes me feel the issues stem from bad upper management.
P.s. to the reply; I wish we had been drunk (or even had drinks before we came) but as our drinks took so long even that was...
Read moreFood = delicious Service = incredibly slow and poor I'm not sure if we went on a bad night and they were a waiter missing, but we were ignored 2 or 3 times whilst waiting to get a table (there were unreserved tables free). We then waited 20 minutes to get a menu. Another 25 minutes for someone to take our order. Then another 20 for the food (absolutely acceptable, but the wait to get the menu / make an order / get our drinks = poor). They were busy, yes, but surely a waiter missing, as they should be able to handle busy better than that. I saw someone leave because they were tired of waiting to make an order. I saw someone take their leftovers inside to get it wrapped up and pay the bill as they were tired of waiting. And I saw a couple wait for an hour for their order to be taken, and nearly another hour for their food to arrive. The pizza was delicious (the vesuvius is SPIC) so, despite the above, I might go back if I was starving.
Note: The menu isn't in English, so use Google Translate, or ask your waiter! Very limited choice on drinks if you don't like beer and wine Looks like they'll call you a scammer if you leave...
