We asked asked a friend living in Pisa - for a serious recommendation of a good restaurant. I mean a restaurant, where local people go to enjoy very well made food at - good prices. He recommended the ‘Trattoria Sant'Omobono’. Off we go. We booked a table by phone in the morning and only managed to get a slot from 19:30 to 21:00 pm. So: pre booking is mandatory, as the restaurant is always fully booked.
This in actual fact is the top secret insider tip, as this little restaurant is probably one of the most authentic places to go to eat in Pisa!
Bottom line: this restaurant is amazing.
The variety of local dishes is prefect. The taste of the dishes we had was simply “out of this world”. The portions are very big! So share a plate. Else it will be too much!!! The prices are unbelievable cheap for the quality you get!!!
So, let’s now get into the details:
As a starter we ordered ‘antipasto toscano di terra Della Casa’ for 10,00 euro. See picture attached. Different types of Salome, prosciutto, cheese accompanied with olives and fresh bred.
As a primi pratto we had the ‘gnochetti con creama di Gorgonzola’ for 9,00 euro and the ‘braclette al la remoila’ for 8,00 euro. Please see attached pictures. Both were a dream. But by far too much 😍😍😍
As a secondi Prato the two of us had one portion of the ‘Roastbeef carpaciatio’ for 11,00 euro. What a dream!!! Just look at the pictures.
For us, this small restaurant was an absolute insider discovery: great food, great quality, incredible prices and a great authentic atmosphere. Italy as you would imagine it in your wildest dreams. Five...

Read moreThis restaurant has a basic but welcoming atmosphere. The tablecloth is actually papercloth and glasses are really of thick glass. It is a place where locals (mostly couples) comes for a simple outing.
The food was good but basic. Prices were not high. The potatoes I took where clearly not overly fresh. My companion took a fresh country salad with cherry tomatoes and rucola that was definitely better.
Menu Main Course: Pheasant with roasted potatoes Dessert: Castagnaccio with ricotta (chestnut cake with fresh cheese) Beverages: 1 and 1/2 bottle of...
