We asked asked a friend living in Pisa - for a serious recommendation of a good restaurant. I mean a restaurant, where local people go to enjoy very well made food at - good prices. He recommended the ‘Trattoria Sant'Omobono’. Off we go. We booked a table by phone in the morning and only managed to get a slot from 19:30 to 21:00 pm. So: pre booking is mandatory, as the restaurant is always fully booked.

This in actual fact is the top secret insider tip, as this little restaurant is probably one of the most authentic places to go to eat in Pisa!

Bottom line: this restaurant is amazing.

The variety of local dishes is prefect. The taste of the dishes we had was simply “out of this world”. The portions are very big! So share a plate. Else it will be too much!!! The prices are unbelievable cheap for the quality you get!!!

So, let’s now get into the details:

As a starter we ordered ‘antipasto toscano di terra Della Casa’ for 10,00 euro. See picture attached. Different types of Salome, prosciutto, cheese accompanied with olives and fresh bred.

As a primi pratto we had the ‘gnochetti con creama di Gorgonzola’ for 9,00 euro and the ‘braclette al la remoila’ for 8,00 euro. Please see attached pictures. Both were a dream. But by far too much 😍😍😍

As a secondi Prato the two of us had one portion of the ‘Roastbeef carpaciatio’ for 11,00 euro. What a dream!!! Just look at the pictures.

For us, this small restaurant was an absolute insider discovery: great food, great quality, incredible prices and a great authentic atmosphere. Italy as you would imagine it in your wildest dreams. Five...

this will be a longer story ... in the end probably even a love story ... on saturday evening we passed this small restaurant and were instantly in love and so we decided to go out to eat there on sunday evening ... oh dear ... unfortunately no chance, since we of course had not reserved ... so quickly reserved for monday evening .... today the time had come ... OMG ... we had no idea what we were getting into here ... the welcome was warm ... just reading the menu made our mouths water ... burrata with tomatoes, spaghetti with wild boar ragout, ravioli with beef sauce , vitello tonnato, roast beef with salad it should be ... and really, one thing was better than the other ... absolutely delicious ... and I have to say, as well-travelled connoisseurs of Italy, we can give a very good judgment .... one of the best meals of the last 15 years ... the house wine - yummi ... it underlined the whole experience ... to finish we treated ourselves to a tiramisu, although there was actually no room for it ... world's best ... in the end we decided to come here for our last evening in pisa to reserve a table again...it has to be mentioned that the prices are too low for what it is...especially compared to pisa's restaurants...so if you are looking for an authentic dinner in pisa, look no further … go here or book a table ... you won't regret it ... thank you very much for a great, tasteful, all-round successful evening...

This restaurant has a basic but welcoming atmosphere. The tablecloth is actually papercloth and glasses are really of thick glass. It is a place where locals (mostly couples) comes for a simple outing.

The food was good but basic. Prices were not high. The potatoes I took where clearly not overly fresh. My companion took a fresh country salad with cherry tomatoes and rucola that was definitely better.

Menu Main Course: Pheasant with roasted potatoes Dessert: Castagnaccio with ricotta (chestnut cake with fresh cheese) Beverages: 1 and 1/2 bottle of...

This is the best meal we had in Pisa. We booked in advance, and on the day of, we saw that the restaurant is fully booked for the night. Everything here is SO CHEAP. We wanted to order more but ran out of stomach space. We ordered 2 pasta, a red wine to share, a tiramisu, and a panna cotta. We paid 15 euros each! The pasta were both so amazing, especially the boar ragú spaghetti. The wine was good, but the tiramisu could have been sweeter. The service was also very good and fast. Overall an amazing dinner experience you must have when you're in Pisa. Remember to book in advance :)
