Baita street food house — Restaurant in Polignano a Mare

Steer clear of this place. Walked up to the window mid-afternoon. No customers there. Three people working. No one acknowledged me. Finally I spoke up after about 5 minutes and asked for a menu. They made me wait 10 minutes for that. Just standing there. Then I ordered two burgers to go. That took 25 more minutes. When I paid with a 50 E note he gave me back my change in as many coins as possible even though i could see he had plenty of paper money in his till to make proper change. Then they completely botched the order on top of that. I asked for no "burger sauce" so what was on it? Yep, burger sauce. Burger was disgusting. If I wasn't already at my hotel when I opened it, I would have gone back and thrown it at their window. Even though I don't speak the language well, a person knows when he or she is being treated poorly or outright being disrespected. That's what happened to me here. They saw a foreigner and decided to give me garbage treatment. Unless you speak Italian, do not go here because these terrible people will treat you poorly and charge you for...

We had a Pugliarello speciality from Puglia for lunch (eaten in the little square in the old town). The ciabatta bread was warm and just excellent. The cheese melted over the finely chopped raw ham sprinkled with basil sauce was excellent. And a pepper "explosion" that's very good too. Quality products at a reasonable price. Highly...

Da polignanese autoctono, posso solo sottolineare l'abnegazione e la dovizia lavorativa che hanno portato i fratelli Liotino ad essere oggi leader dello "street food" nelle notti, e non solo in quelle estive..., del mio paese. Proposte culinarie preparate con assoluta professionalità diventano cruciali per chi esausto ha da poco terminato un turno di lavoro ed allo stesso tempo per chi sente il bisogno di concludere la propria serata vacanziera con garbo alimentare accompagnato dall'armonia di una location sobria ed allo stesso tempo incastonata a due passi dal cuore paesaggistico di questa perla della Puglia. Si respira aria di educazione e familiarità... e mentre tutt'attorno per le altre strade la gente insoddisfatta si lamenta e sbraita, io posso solo cogliere i volti soddisfatti di chi ha assaporato le bontà de "LA BAITA" !!!
