Coeliac/Gluten intolerance warning ‼️ Dine with caution⚠️ My husband and I dined here twice while in Polignano. The first time I requested a GF panini and was told only the vegetarian option was possible to make GF and they could definitely cater for me as someone with GF intolerance. At the time I was so happy, the taste was delicious! The bread was like nothing I’d had before and staff were helpful. I was suspicious but trusted what they said was what I got (I was wrong). I was sick for two days (I have a gluten intolerance- not coeliac and I was in so much pain for two days with ongoing symptoms). After returning for a second time and requesting the exact same order, staff advised me they were unable to make the vegetarian panini GF as vegetables were fried. After explaining that they made this GF last time I visited, they agreed to do it as a one off (the two women were so kind at the till and I appreciated them going above and beyond). When my panini came out it was completely different to what I received two days prior. The bun looked GF and had the typical GF texture. I immediately knew the panini I received two days prior was NOT GF and I could now pinpoint what made me so sick. Proceed/dine with caution ⛔️ it may be a small mistake but HUGE for those who suffer from...
Read morePescaria in Polignano a Mare is well-known for its fresh seafood and creative dishes, which draw in a large number of locals and tourists alike. The menu offers a variety of seafood-focused dishes, with sandwiches and raw fish options that are particularly popular. However, despite the delicious food, the dining experience can often be chaotic due to high demand and a lack of organization.
The restaurant tends to get quite busy, especially during peak times, which can lead to long wait times for both ordering and receiving food. The self-service ordering system, while convenient in theory, sometimes adds to the confusion as the staff struggles to keep up with the sheer volume of customers. Patrons often find themselves waiting in crowded areas, and the bustling environment can make the experience feel rushed rather than relaxing.
Once the food arrives, the quality generally meets expectations, with fresh ingredients and creative flavors. However, the slow service and somewhat disorganized system can detract from the overall experience. Pescaria is a good choice if you’re in the mood for unique seafood offerings and don't mind a lively, hectic atmosphere, but it might not be the best pick if you’re looking for a calm...
Read moreA visit to Pescaria in Polignano a Mare is a truly unique experience, but one that is absolutely worth it. The food is fantastic, and the prices are surprisingly great for the quality of seafood you get.
However, you should be prepared for the process. It's a very busy place, and first, you have to stand in a line to pay for your meal. Only after you've paid do you get to sit down and wait for your order. It's a system, and while it's efficient, it can feel a bit chaotic. And while the food is amazing, some of the staff can be a bit rude, which is a shame, but it might just be a part of the fast-paced, high-volume environment.
The food, though, is the real star. The salmon and tuna panini are absolutely delicious—the fish is so fresh and flavorful. The fish and chips are also fantastic, a perfect Apulian take on a classic.
For the great price you pay, it’s an incredible value. In the end, it's a worthwhile trade-off. You might have to deal with a strange ordering process and some less-than-friendly staff, but the food is excellent and the prices are more than fair. It's a place you go to for the delicious seafood, and that's exactly...
