MINT Cucina Fresca — Restaurant in Polignano a Mare

We were really excited to try Mint Cucina Fresca after reading great reviews, and while the space itself was beautiful — boutique, clean, and thoughtfully decorated — the food, unfortunately, didn’t live up to expectations.

We were served a complimentary cold cucumber soup to start, which was a refreshing and thoughtful touch — we really appreciated it.

The ambience was lovely: quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, with a friendly host and prompt service. It’s clearly a place with care and intention behind it, and we really appreciated the vegan-friendly menu.

However, the main meal itself was a letdown. I had the vegan quiche, which looked great on the plate, but the taste and texture just didn’t work. The crust was dry, and the filling was like melted cashew nut cheese - claggy. It lacked structure and wasn’t enjoyable to eat.

The side salad was fresh but completely undressed — it needed more vinaigrette to lift it.

We were also a bit surprised when we couldn’t get a glass of water with coffee at the end — unless we ordered a full bottle of still or sparkling. I understand if that’s their policy, but it felt inflexible, especially as we were wrapping up our meal.

I had planned to try the vegan crème brûlée, but after the main, I didn’t feel confident enough to order dessert.

I’d recommend the restaurant overall, as I’d hope other dishes are lovely — but I wouldn’t recommend the vegan quiche.

The space has a lot of potential, and with a few tweaks in the kitchen, it could become something...

Now look at this! A small place, you can almost overlook it - but you shouldn’t! Otherwise you miss something really special!

At this place, everything is perfect! The ambiance is very smooth, relaxing and cosy as it is a small place. The food is outstanding, made with lots of creativity & love and you can actually taste the freshness of the products in your mouth! Even the drinks are unique and resemble the idea of the place: Special items made with simple ingredients!

Last but not least: The team! This place is run by the lovely couple Liù & Fabrizio. Liù is taking care of the guests in a heart warming way while Fabrizio does his magic in the kitchen! Every once in a while he comes to the guests, wants their opinion and takes time for a chat. They are the perfect couple for a perfect place!

Every dish feels lovingly crafted, and you can taste the care and creativity that goes into the menu. But what really makes this place unforgettable are the people behind it. Fabrizio, the chef, doesn’t just stay in the kitchen, he takes the time to personally say goodbye to each guest, which says so much about the pride and heart he puts into the place. And Liu is just as warm and welcoming. She serves you with a big smile and walks you out and says goodbye like you’re leaving a friend’s home. There’s something truly unique about Mint, from the cosy, stylish setting to the warm hospitality and outstanding food, it’s clear that every detail is thought through with love.
