Food is a little less than okay, and service is bad.

Didn’t get to order until 30mins after we got sat down, and the male server (the restaurant owner’s brother) was extremely impatient and rude. I asked him for a little bit more sweeter white after he brought me his recommended wine to try, as the one he brought me was very sour and dry, and he just brought me a very sweet moscato to let me try without clarifying. As if I was a crying kid asking for candies. The lack of trying to understand or trying in general felt a little off. But I had to tell him that hmmmm maybe I was looking for something more like a Pinot Grigio to go with the seafood, but he immediately walked off and shook his head and shoulders, and shouting things out loud showing his frustration with his confused customers. AND he never came back to finish my ordering, nor did he come back to check on food, or come back to help us with water. The whole night he intentionally stayed away from us, as if we did him some wrong. He would walk around and selectively serve other tables, literally walking past us and without giving us an explanation or apology. I mean, people are here for a good time, especially that this is not a cheap restaurant. But the food is less than okay because dishes are unbalanced and could be a little more saltier than other restaurants, but it would have been okay with me, because I got a good view, a nice sunset, and the love of my life right there with me. But this guy, brings his attitudes to customers during the most normal interactions, doesn’t say sorry for the long wait or his demeanors, or really care if you have a good time or not, really pissed me off, and I had to helplessly turn to other very busy waitresses who obviously shouldn’t be serving me to serve me, and to help me order my wine and help me with the rest of things I needed throughout the night.

I inquired about it him and he was known to have a few...

I want to start off by saying that the meal was delicious. All the food we had was incredible and I wish our entire experience was just as incredible, but unfortunately it wasn’t.

It just seemed like a few logistical things that just continued to pile up. I’ve worked in the restaurant business so I know things happen and I try to be as understanding as possible. There were a few hiccups with the shuttle, but we understood things happen. The first one told us that there was another shuttle on the way so we waited. Eventually after 30 minutes we called and they said they would send another shuttle. When all was said and done we ended up being about 30- 45 minutes late for our initial reservation time. We were seated fairly quickly and the restaurant itself is lovely.

We ordered and got our appetizer fairly quickly, but then it was a good hour before our pasta dish came out. They were busy, no problem, but the couple next to us, who came in probably 30 minutes after us, just so happened to order the same exact meal as us, got their appetizer and pasta before we even got our pasta. We had to flag someone down to see if our order was even put in. We eventually got our pasta, but had to confirm again that our entree was put in. We had contemplated ordering dessert, but at that point we would have had to wait all night. I think they knew we were a little irritated at that point because nobody came back to us until we asked for the check, which they gave us the bill from the couple next to us. I’m convinced they just mixed up the tables and the couple actually got our meal, but I digress. All was said and done and we rushed out to catch the shuttle and by the time we fixed the issue with the bill the shuttle was full.

I’d like to think tonight was a fluke and if I’m ever in town again, I’d definitely try it out again. This place definitely has something great, but just an off...

One star due to the complementary shuttle service.

Iltrivo restaurant was an utterly disappointing experience. We arrived via shuttle for our booking where we waited around 20 minutes to be seated. I was happy to wait as I could see they were busy at the time and hoped that the service later on in the night would make up for it. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case, it took 25 minutes for our order to be taken and then 45 minutes for our two glasses of wine which never arrived. While eating my entree the waitress attempted to take the plate out of my hands as I was eating. After 50 minutes of waiting for our two wines and having asked staff multiple times where our drinks were we decided to cancel the rest of our meal. Tables that had come in way later than us were being served main meals while we still waited on our first drinks. When informing the staff that we would like to leave due to waiting over 50 minutes for our drinks and asking staff multiple times how much longer they would be, they did not try and make our drinks, instead just wanted us to pay for our meals even the items we had yet to receive. They were able to change our fee to just the items that had arrived and received no apologies or even any acknowledgment for the utterly poor service.

Unless you are a big group expect to be completely ignored at this restaurant. Save your time and money and go to one of the other many lovely restaurants...

Amazing food and atmosphere, highly recommend if you are staying in positano! We had our hotel call the day before to make a reservation for us, and a shuttle comes from the restaurant to pick you up anywhere in positano (beware, Italians don’t rush, so our shuttle was about 15 min late!). When we arrived, we were seated with a lovely view on the outdoor terrace, although even the indoor seats were charming and would have been wonderful to sit at. The hostess immediately brought over complimentary champagne while we looked over the menu. We had the chefs salad and homemade pasta with walnuts and provolone to start, and they also brought complimentary bruschetta. We tried three different fish dishes for our mains, and the coffee tiramisu for dessert. They also brought complimentary limoncello and a few other liquors to try, as well as homemade lemon sorbet and little spice packets as souvenirs. All of the food was exquisite. For three of us (including two bottles of wine) it was just about 175 eur, which for the service and quality was definitely worth it. Expect to spend a few hours here, but enjoy it and savor all the delicious Mediterranean food!!

We were so impressed with this restaurant. Easy to make reservations by contacting them on their website. We stayed at an AirBnB very close to La Sirenuse, so we had them pick us up there. There were 2 other couples, and one they picked up way out of town (so they do travel a distance to get you!). Our reservation was at 730, they picked us up at 7. When we arrived our table was spectacular. This little gem is in the heart of a small Italian village where you can tell its away from all of the tourists. We opted for an Antipasti and Secondi, skipping Primi. We shared the Tomahawk steak, OMG melt in your mouth, perfectly cooked and seasoned. For $35 Euros each it was the best value we have had at Positano for the superior quality. When we were ready to leave, they dropped us back off at La Sirenuse. If you are looking for something different and off the beaten path, or just amazing food while staying in Positano, this place is it!

After a long hike from Positano, we arrived to il Ritrovo. The restaurant was full, nice atmosphere, very good location on top of the mountain with incredible views. The food, although on the pricey side was a bit disappointing. We ordered: - grilled octopus (very tasty, nothing to say about that) - homemade pasta with shrimp and pumpkin (OKish at best) - local small octopus with tomatoes and croutons (which I found too blunt, the tommato sauce was too concentrate and its acidity didn't complement the octopus at all) - filett mignon. Here they actually tried to cheat me, or the English translation of the menu was not accurate. What they actually served me was a low quality sirloin steak full of ligaments. I complained about the quality, they were quite nice to replace it with another steak but sadly the quality was the same and far from the filet quality. At the end we were happy with the complementary shuttle service back to our hotel.
