Unfortunately, this place is a genuine tourist trap, meaning : bad overpriced food, bad service and atmosphere. Let me start with the food (or drinks): the aperol Spritz tasted like water and cost 8€ (pretty expensive for water). Exactly the same holds for the food. The calzone that my partner ordered was not fresh. The cheese inside was some kind of industrial cheese which was not even melted and appeared as small rubber pieces once you cut the pizza into pieces. After this experience, we still dared to order a tiramisu (yea, we had kinda hope that they would get that one right), but it tasted really industrial and looked exactly the same as the one on the neighbor table. This all ( 1 side dish, 2 main courses, 2 spritzes and 1 tiramisu) cost 72€, which is fairly overpriced for this bad quality.. Now regarding the service, the staff can only be described as really impatient, pushy and rude. The waiters always ripped us off our plate or glass the second we had the last bite / snip of it. We did not even have time to eat up one of our plates that they had already brought the next one… The worst came at the end. Just after they rushed the bill to us and we paid, we could not even stay another 10min to finish our drinks. One of the waiters ( I suppose the owner or higher ranked one) came to us to ask us to leave because they had some guests waiting to be seated. And this was absolutely not true. Nobody was waiting on the street to get a table and there was still space outside and inside the restaurant for some more guests in overall. I never experienced that rudeness and incompetency of a service… Last but not least, the atmosphere is really not nice since you have staff looking over your shoulders every minute to see what you are currently doing, rushing you to finish your dish or pay and kicking you out of the restaurant, although it is your right to finish the drinks you paid for before leaving. Besides that, the restaurant is located on a busy street with a lot of traffic even at night and the space between tables is so tiny that you can grab every word of conversation at the table next to you. Dinner was therefore not really enjoyable.. To sum up : absolutely avoid this tourist trap. I am sure there are better places around positano which are worth your...
Read moreI recently dined at an Italian restaurant that had been recommended to me as a hidden gem for exquisite Italian cuisine. The food undoubtedly lived up to the hype, earning a solid 5-star rating. However, the service I received, coupled with the relentless and rude handling of the bill, marred what should have been a memorable dining experience.
As someone who has traveled to over 80 countries and has had the privilege of experiencing various culinary delights, Italy has always held a special place in my heart. Italian cuisine was, without a doubt, my favorite in the world. That is until I had this unfortunate encounter.
My family and I arrived at the restaurant with high expectations, ready to savor some authentic Italian flavors. We were greeted with initial politeness, but as the evening progressed, the service deteriorated rapidly. The waitstaff made it apparent that our two small children were not particularly welcome, which was surprising and disheartening given the family-friendly reputation of Italian culture.
The real shocker, however, came when it was time to settle the bill. I lost count, but we were handed the bill over five times in what can only be described as a relentless and discourteous attempt to rush us out of the restaurant. It felt like an affront, considering that we had spent a significant amount of Euros and were eager to pay our dues.
This experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and shattered my perception of Italy as a welcoming and hospitable country. It's disheartening to think that I may have encountered an isolated incident, but it nevertheless tainted what could have been a cherished memory. I sincerely hope that the restaurant can improve its service and create a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all patrons, irrespective of their group size or the presence of children. After all, great food alone does not make a great restaurant; exceptional service and a warm, inviting ambiance are...
Read moreIt’s all about cycling the tables as quickly as they can. To be fair: the pizzas were amazing, but their service was the direct opposite. The staff was very welcoming until finding out we weren’t drinking any wine, so they quickly took our orders. It arrived minutes later and we were still eating our last pieces when they (literally) snatched the plates away from the table. Cutlery hadn’t even been put back on the plate yet.
A second later another staff member showed up asking if we wanted any coffee or drinks and I asked for a dessert card. “We don’t have menu cards available anymore but the desserts are (named all of them indistinguishable). Which one would you like?” When I asked for a second to think about it (my last slice had just passed my throat seconds ago) the staff member walked away and within less than 60 seconds another one came up to take our order. We ordered and dessert was served, as expected, as quickly as humanly possible. Rinse-repeat on eating our desert, the dishes got taken away as soon as we hit the last bite. We got another question for coffee or another drink (still had a full bottle of water standing) and when we said “no thanks”, the staff member disappeared. Apparently, this annoyed the owner (by the looks of it - she was the one running things) and promptly came out with the bill and an ATM, waiting at our table for us to pay.
Mind you that we had less than a couple of minutes in between main course and dessert and had an agitated owner tapping a bill mere seconds after finishing dessert, the quality of the food did by no means make up for the dissatisfactory service provided.
If you feel like getting pushed in and out of a dining experience within 30 mins of your arrival, go for it. If that is not why you’re looking for, Positano has much better...
