During our road trip across Italy, France, and Switzerland from the UK, we made a special stop in Rome and what a heartwarming experience it turned out to be. After reuniting with our dear friends from Sri Lanka after seven long years, we headed to 7 Seven Lanka Restaurant for lunch. It felt more like visiting a relative’s home than a restaurant.

We were warmly welcomed by Ranji ayya and Nisanla akka, the lovely owners of the place. Their hospitality was beyond words, it truly felt like going to our mother’s house. The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with authentic Sri Lankan flavors, and the cleanliness and care taken in every detail of the restaurant were remarkable.

Having lived in the UK since 2004 and travelled extensively, I can honestly say this is the best Sri Lankan food I’ve tasted anywhere in the world, second only to my mother’s cooking.

Went to this food joint twice. In both times food was excellent and had authentic Sri Lankan taste. In first time visit, we ordered 2 rice and curry plates, 1 Sri Lankan cream soda bottle and got 2 vegetable rotti to takeaway. Only cost us 20 Euros which is value for the money. Also the staff were very friendly. The second time we went for a takeaway lunch but the Curry's were not ready at 12.30pm but they had biriyani and some rolls & rotti ready, so took them on that day. Food quality was good but the biriyani is not the best I had before. The shop was small and have limited seating for about 8 people. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Seven Lanka Restaurant on Via Merulana in Rome, and it was such a delightful experience! After traveling around Europe for a while, it was so special to finally enjoy authentic Sri Lankan food again.

The food was absolutely delicious — full of traditional flavors that reminded me of home. The hospitality was outstanding too; the owners and staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and always ready to help. You can really feel the warmth and passion they put into their service and cooking.
