I recently had the misfortune of dining at Ponte Sisto, a place I was lured to by its misleading advertisements promising a delightful culinary experience. Unfortunately, my visit was anything but delightful. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a level of hostility that was both surprising and unsettling. The staff were incredibly unfriendly, and at one point, we were even shouted at, a behavior that is utterly unacceptable in any customer service setting. Adding insult to injury, the order we received was incorrect. When the food was finally brought to our table, it was done so in the most disorganized manner. The server made no effort to ask who had ordered what, instead just plopping dishes down in a haphazard fashion. Throughout the evening, our table was shamefully ignored. The server seemed far more interested in making fun of us than attending to our needs. This display of unprofessionalism was both appalling and disheartening. When it came to the food itself, I wish I could say it was worth the wait, but alas, it was not. The dishes were excessively salty, rendering them almost inedible. Overall, the experience was a colossal disappointment. I would advise anyone considering a visit to Ponte Sisto to think twice and perhaps look elsewhere for a more pleasant...
Read moreThe food is amazing and our server was wonderful. Coming from the US, at the end of the dinner my 3 friends and I told a person that had been helping our server with our order that we wanted to pay separately. This person was Lucy, and again, she was not our server.
Lucy proceeded to be extremely rude by basically almost screaming at us while telling us that we should’ve let them know at the beginning of the dinner, and that she was not going to separate our checks. We felt so ashamed as the other people close to us listened how she responded to us. It is fair to respect what she said if the policy of the restaurant says so. We wouldn’t have minded paying it together if that was the rule. But Lucy was unprofessional, rude, and spoke to us in a very bad tone. I need to give this review because Lucy should be more professional and kind to people coming to the restaurant, especially tourists. When facing an issue, Lucy should explain the rules in a respectful way and guests of course have to comply. But we felt discriminated and so ashamed of how she spoke to us in front of everyone. She strongly needs customer service skills. Even if I lived in Rome, I would not...
Read moreThis... Was the best seafood we ever had. That's the short story.
Long story: we were in search for a nice place for dinner, not knowing the city. We stumbled across this beautiful little place, next to the Tiber. We sat down (the first guests for an early dinner). We were reseated actually, after the waiter asked if we wanted to eat or only drink. Even nicer place to be 🥰 He brought us the menu, water and some time to decide. He came back a little bit later and offered us some off menu dishes. So we had a great seafood platter (jeez, those anchovies...) as a starter, accompanied by a nice white wine (which would guide us nicely through the dining). Main course were two kinds of pasta, one with mussels and the other with lobster. So many mussels... And a half, delicious lobster on top of nicely al dente pasta on the other plate.
Sadly we couldn't fit a desert 😅
But we will absolutely return!
And the amount and quality of the food was absolutely worth the price. The antipasti, two main courses, a bottle of wine and two of water for a bit over 50€.
Together with such a nice service and again - the best seafood we...
