Ara Pacis - la Capricciosa — Restaurant in Rome

DO NOT EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! Hopefully you are reading this before going to eat there and not after eating at this disappointing place or while you are seating down at the restaurant asking yourself Why did I picked this place? First of all terrible Service... we picked a bottle that was taken to us at room temperature and after refusing the bottle the server just said let me put it on ice and placed it near the table. After we were halfway our first course the server comes back and asked my wife if she wanted to taste again and after trying a second time it was still warm, I saw a gentleman that clearly worked there after I asked if he was the manager he said he was the owner. I told the owner about the bottle situation since we clearly wanted to have it with our meal and since it was warm we did not wanted the bottle, the owner shrug his shoulders and walked away... after that no service a complete ignore to the point that was very disrespectful and I desided to check the reviews of this place and saw them too late seating down at my table wondering why I sat down (yep like I mentioned before) the only time a person came over was to take away the plates of the first course and the drop the second course. We did finished the food that we ordered and asked for the check, the server then approached us and before dropping the check said “If you would like to disputed anything do it at the register” The bottle that was never touched was on the check, we approached the cash register and the owner was the most disrespectful individual I have ever met. After the server agreeing that the bottle was warm the bottle was still on the check I told the owner in front of the server about the lack of service and the server mentioned that once he doesn’t feel a good energy from customer he doesn’t go to the table anymore.... Seriously?.... there was a second lady from the restaurant that came over and about 2 additional servers to tell us that we needed to pay the bill (owner + 3 servers + lady still did not know who she was ... I wonder when the cooks were going to come out). We said that we would absolutely pay for what we had but not from the bottle that we refused. The lady kept saying that they did everything right and I asked if the right way to do it is to mentioned your bottle is warm, refuse it and then get charged and she agreed.... I could not believe this was happening my wife and I were shocked about the rudeness and disrespectfulness of the owner and the servers (not to mentioned the terrible service that we had during our dinner). Lastly we told the owner that his customer service overall was terrible and that he should definitely read his reviews and his answer was “TripAdvisor, online reviews .... I don’t care, I got restaurant , I don’t care about reviews” at this point it was even worth it... I ended up paying after spending a great deal of time for a warm bottle that was refused adding such a terrible service from the waiters and to put the cherry on the top as soon as the card was approved the owner couldn’t wait to kick us out. JUST A...

Not in the middle of the most noisy street with all the other restaurants in Popolo area makes this a nice getaway place from all the noise and ruckus of the centre.

Food as far as I am concerned is excellent and cheaper than in my home country. I had a pizza with Parma ham, Rucola and mozzarella. Grilled salmon which truly outdid my expectations and would be my go-to where I to visit a fourth time. On the third visit I had lamb which was extremely tender and had a great sauce to go with it. Both the lamb and salmon were served with the best potatoes I've had in a while and I know I will thirst after getting back home.

Also, I get the feeling that not all the restaurants here work in the same "old customers out and new ones in" efficient way as our northern ones. These places are ment to be sat at for long times. So don't be afraid to ask for service when you need it.

I hope one day the great staff that work at this wonderful restaurant see this review and can heed my most humble gratitude to them for making my holiday that...

The 1 star is only for the food. Not sure why, but we were treated as second class citizens. My fiancée had been sick for a few days and they initially sat us next to a table smoking right onto us. We asked to be moved but for whatever reason that was the end of them being civil or helpful. Three tables around us ordered the same thing we did after arriving up to 15 minutes after us. They all received everything well before we did, had every request taken care of within a minute. It was obvious they were purposely holding our order. We ordered coffee after our meal, 25 minutes later we still didn’t have coffee. When we finally were able to get a check, they had the coffee on it, refused to remove the charge because we had ordered it and they had “made it”. I paid it just so we could leave.

Please, please don’t waste your time here. There are plenty of better options, this is a joke of an establishment. Proof by this being my first every review I felt I had to leave of a restaurant. It...
