My mum and I came here after I briefly read the reviews. I wish I had read the reviews more thoroughly and avoided this place instead. The majority of previous reviews praised the food, which i agree was very nice. I personally found the carbonara a bit salty but that is my personal preference and the carbonara here is one of the better ones I have tried in Rome. However, the service leaves little to be desired. My mum asked about the juices and the waiter said "pera" and then he repeated in english "pear", which my mum asked for pear. Then he appeared confused and said "what is pear?" To which i replied "pera" and he subsequently took the order. However he came back later and said there was no pear juice. The initial order timing was average compared to other restaurants we have been to. But staff weren't friendly at all. Our meals came in a timely manner but staff took their time to clear the plates. They never brought over a dessert menu or asked if we would like anything else but simply ignored us even though only 2 other tables in the restaurant were taken with 2 on one table and 4 on another. The other table with 2 people got more attention than we did and waiters had to pass us to get to them. It was difficult to get their attention to order dessert and when I did eventually manage to successfully interrupt a female waiter and ask for tiramisu (bearing in mind I still had not received a menu but ended up going on Google to look at the menu as at this point it was getting ridiculous), she mumbled something and left. We were left waiting for about 20 minutes with no sign of the tiramisu and the couple of the other table had been served their main meal and just been served tiramisu whilst we were still waiting. Waiters were aware we were waiting as they glanced in our direction multiple times but still difficult to get their attention At this point, we had just given up and fed up with the poor service and managed to get our original waiter's attention and told him we had ordered the tiramisu but then nothing. He said he would get it but I told him its been too long and requested the bill. We didn't receive any apologies whatsoever from the waiter for the delay or for forgetting the tiramisu and the quickest service we received was when they brought us the bill. Quite frankly, the service and the staff really let this place down and its put a dampener on what was otherwise a great holiday. Definitely wouldnt recommend this place.
Update in response to owner's comment: With the level of service we experienced, 3 stars was more than generous as the service was sub-par at best. I can only hope that you will improve for the sake of...
Read moreWelcomed by prosecco, but with lip stains around the glasses. Ordered tripe (trippa) and veal (saltimbocca) to say we've tried the 2 Roman dishes, not bad, but wouldnt order it again. They put a piece of super stale potato chip on the dish. Please remove it. Due to the small portions, we later added the Shrimp Risotto, cooked perfectly, and is easily one of the best dishes of our 1 week stay in Naples and Rome. However, the Risotto took 45mins to be served, they said it was a computer issue. Asked for the bill, not used to doing it as we're Canadians and are used to sitting patiently. Waited another 15mins for the bill, also because of a computer issue. Went up to pay at the front as we're not about to wait another 20mins, and the manager/boss didn't even apologize for the wait/delay/computer problem. Arrived at 6pm, left at 7:50pm, wasted nearly an hour of our precious honeymoon. Plus, they had about 10 workers, but half the time they were just patrolling and standing doing nothing. Come here and have good food if time doesn't matter to you.
Edit to reply to restaurant's reply: First, I understand the cooking time of risotto; it was 15mins after ordering it when the waiter told me there was a computer issue - I did not make this up. As I mentioned, we loved the dish. The cooking is fine here, the management and computer is a whole different story. Second, I didn't pick the table and the restaurant was not nearly full, there were plenty of tables to sit in and the waiter sat me there. As you can see; once again, the owner fails to take blame and admit their "computer system" always run into issues (stated by the waiter). A simple "sorry for the multiple delays" when we came up to to pay would've gone a...
Read moreCaught in heavy rain on our way back to the apartment, we decided to stop for lunch and find a restaurant. After walking for about 20 minutes and struggling to find a suitable spot, we eventually settled on this place, which looked inviting despite being completely empty. We were the only customers, so the waiter, who seemed to be the only one working, seated us quickly.
We ordered sparkling water and a bottle of white wine while browsing the menu. The water arrived promptly, but the waiter mentioned the wine needed to be chilled. Unfortunately, after 15 minutes, we were still waiting, and our attempts to get his attention went unnoticed as he became preoccupied with seating other customers. (Side note: there should be a discount for the first table, as this seems to attract more patrons.)
After finally flagging down another waiter, we placed our lunch order along with a request for some bread. My wife ordered scampi, expecting a cold dish, but was served raw scampi instead. We asked for them to be grilled, which they obliged. My dish, Parma ham and melon, was extremely basic and nothing special. The bread still hadn't arrived by this point.
For our next course, my wife had green veal lasagna, which was lukewarm and had to be sent back to be reheated. I had a Carbonara that was, quite honestly, the worst I’ve ever had—I couldn’t even finish it. Toward the end of our meal, the bread finally appeared, but without any oil or butter, so we sent it back.
To sum it up, I can’t understand how anyone with any appreciation for food could give this restaurant more than one star. Passing through Rome, I certainly won’t be returning, but I felt compelled to...
