Certainly away from the tourist areas of Rome, this unassuming restuarant from the humble external facade, this restaurant is certainly active, family owned and provided some of the most impressive flavors and tastes in Rome.
I feel bad to say but I am compelled to mention to most Americans that when in Italy, you may notice a very stark difference in customer service in restaurants between here and the states. This probably occurs for several reasons not least of which includes language barrier, business in waiting tables, and the fact that waiters and waitresses do not routinely recieve tip in Europe. Also, at least in my brief expirence, the culture and expectation around Italy is that food and meals are to be savored and enjoyed as a central and important social expirence of the day. As a result it is not uncommon nor unusual for people to sit at a table for 2 hours or more as they make thier way from antipasti to pasta to entree through the dessert, espresso or shot of liquor.
Several tips I would recommend before coming to such non tourist establishments to make your expirence at family own restaurants most enjoyable and allow the ambience to match the quality of the food (1) be patient. Your server will eventually get to you. (2) dont take a busy waiters. Ody language personally, they are busy (3) learn some very basic Italian to help navigate you questions in a restaurant (4) take your time and enjoy your meal. This was something I was hardly accustomed to in the States to this degree but it is quite rewarding and satisfying.
Despite following these these tips we still found the waiter here quite rude though equally rude to everyone he was serving so this restaurant is not perfect but the food was second to none throughout our entire trip. I highly highly recommend this location if you are seeking delicious and authentic Italian cuisine and...
Read moreUpon arriving in Rome, we were absolutely starving; naturally, we went straight to the streets in search of something Italian to satisfy our cravings. We were staying in the Trastevere/Testaccio area, so without looking much into it we began to wander through the streets; however, to our surprise, at 1:30pm there was not much to choose from. I looked to trip advisor and found that this restaurant was only 3 mins walk from where we were, so we went straight over. WOW! We were beyond happy that we stopped. The restaurant was completely local - all Italian speaking families, who seemed to be regulars of the restaurant, chatting with the wait staff. Seeing many locals is always a good sign. As we peered over at the other tables all the food looked delicious. We were offered to serve ourselves from a wonderful antipasti bar and we were not disappointed! We especially loved the lentils. From there, we ordered a spaghetti al amatricana, which was absolutely delicious; later we found out that this was our signature dish. The servers were so friendly and helpful, introducing themselves to us and chatting during the meal. Even more amazing, the price was very reasonable! Antipasti, spaghetti, water and wine for two people only 30 euro! We enjoyed this meal so much that we decided to come back for dinner on our last night, despite the wide variety of restaurant options in Rome. Would definitely recommend! We will be coming back every time...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Roman Food – A True Local Gem!
I consider myself a food connoisseur, and I’ve dined in some of the best restaurants around the world – but Da Bucatino truly surpasses everything I have ever tasted. This is not a tourist spot – this is where Italians themselves come to eat, which says it all. The food is as authentic as it gets, straight from the heart of Rome.
We enjoyed several classics, and each one was unforgettable: • Cozze alla marinara – Fresh mussels with the perfect balance of garlic and herbs. • Spaghetti al pomodoro – A simple dish elevated to perfection: al dente pasta, fresh tomato sauce, basil, and Parmigiano. • Risotto alla crema di scampi – Creamy, rich, and infused with the sweetness of fresh scampi. • Carciofi alla Romana – Tender, flavorful artichoke seasoned beautifully with olive oil and herbs. • Scampi alla griglia – Smoky, perfectly grilled, and finished with fresh lemon.
The atmosphere makes the experience complete: authentic, warm, and family-style. You can feel the love for Roman tradition in every detail, and the service is just as genuine as the food.
If you want the true taste of Rome, where Italians themselves come to eat, Da Bucatino is an absolute must. This is not just dinner – it’s a Roman experience that...
