Honestly, nothing to complain about the product. Enjoyed the gelato very much! My favorite brand in Italy tbh. The only complaint I have is towards one of the servers. Didn’t get his name but is tall, thin, and wears glasses. This occurred around 11pm, so not many people in the store at this time. After paying, I put my receipt on the glass display right in front of me as I was waiting in line to be served. (The process is that you pay and then give your receipt to the server to get your gelato) Thé server comes over, doesn’t say anything, grabs my receipt and throws it in the trash bin. I’m thinking, ok, he’s going to take my order now. So I tell him what I want and he proceeds to ask me for my receipt. I convey to him that he just threw it in the bin in which he proceeds to give me a confused look. If there is a receipt for an order right in front of someone and you’re not sure who’s it is, shouldn’t you ask them if it’s theirs? He then speaks with some of his coworkers and one of them tells me that I need to pay before being served. I tell them what had happened and then a few minutes later he finally takes my order. He puts together a sloppy mess and hands it over to me. He asks if I would like a ‘milk’ chocolate chip or ‘dark’ chocolate chip on top. I say very clearly, ‘dark’ but he proceeds to give me ‘milk’. (English is my mother tongue by the way) I would like to believe that this happened only because it was late at night and he was just a bit tired rather then it being anything with ill intent. Furthermore, I don’t bother to correct him and just take the gelato and leave. At this point I’m just like F’ it, I want to just get out of there. I feel that it was an honest mistake in the beginning, but it was the way that it was handled that ticked...
Read moreToday, my wife and I went to the Venchi ice cream shop in Rome, and we had a very unpleasant experience. We decided to get two small cones, and the menu clearly stated that we could choose two flavors for a small size. However, the staff told us we could only choose one flavor because if we chose two, the scoops would be too small. She then suggested that we get medium cones instead. We took her advice and ordered two medium cones, which, according to the menu, should allow us to choose three flavors.
However, when we started choosing our flavors, the female server, after serving us two flavors, suddenly said we couldn't choose a third one because the two flavors she had already served were for the large size. She said we needed to inform her beforehand, which was very frustrating. The menu clearly states that we could choose three flavors for a medium cone, and it should have been her responsibility to ask us, not ours to tell her. We believe this was a failure on her part and not our responsibility.
Overall, this experience was very disappointing, and we hope the management will improve the service quality to prevent such incidents from...
Read moreThe chocolate from Venchi is by far the best I've ever had. Every single one of their chocolates is divine and they have a wonderful variety of chocolates and gelato. I've been to quite a few branches of the store all over Rome and have gotten excellent service every time. The staff members are always kind and generous.
My mother and I attended the Chocolate Tasting Experience Workshop at the branch near the Pantheon after falling in love with their chocolates and gelato. Mattia was our guide who explained the history of Venchi step by step and Martin also assisted in the workshop. Both staff members were approachable, knowledgeable and very friendly. They conduct the workshop at your own pace and are accommodating of dietary requirements and preferences. As an added bonus, there is also a decent discount if you purchase anything after the workshop.
I'd highly recommend popping into the store for some tasty treats and perhaps to learn about the history as well. It'll be totally worth your while for the full chocolate...
