Exceptional Gelato Near the Colosseum - A Must-Visit!
This is hands down one of the finest gelato shops in Rome, conveniently located just a short walk from the Colosseum. I tried both the pistachio and chocolate flavors, and both were absolutely outstanding - rich, creamy, and bursting with authentic Italian flavor.
What sets this place apart is its commitment to traditional gelato-making. You can taste the difference that comes from using quality ingredients and time-honored techniques. The texture is perfectly smooth and dense, exactly what you'd expect from genuine Italian gelato.
Pro tip: If you're visiting on a particularly hot day, opt for a cup instead of a cone - the gelato is so creamy and fresh that it melts quickly in Rome's summer heat!Whether you're a gelato connoisseur or just looking for a sweet treat after exploring the Colosseum, this authentic gelateria delivers an unforgettable experience. Highly...
Read moreThis is wonderful ice cream. I have been eating gelato in Rome for 40 years, and I remember when I first tried Flor when I saw it in 2013 (even though it was established in 2011), and never forgot it. This is artisan gelato as good as it gets. You can actually see the difference just by looking at the colors: no extraneous items like toppings, no flashy artificial colors. Then you taste it, and if your palate hasn’t been numbed by chewing-gum flavored ice cream, you’ll know this is the real deal. I came here again in 2023, on a scorching august sun Sunday, and was lucky enough to met the owner at the cashier. He was so friendly, clearly covering for an employee that didn’t show up, couldn’t find the right keys in the cashier machine. They now have franchises in three or four different countries that I’m sure...
Read moreI don't know what the other comments are on about, but the ice cream was absolutely terrible. I've had a great deal of ice cream in my lifetime, and I would have to rank this as the worst I've ever eaten. It tasted like nothing. I got the mascarpone and fig flavor along with the tiramisù. The mascarpone one tasted like nothing, just plain white ice cream, with no fig taste or mascarpone at all. The tiramisù one also tasted very bland, with just a slight hint of dirty coffee. I would really avoid this ice cream shop if I were you; it gives a bad name to Italian ice cream. Trust me, I've eaten a lot in my life. Save yourself the 3 euros for a small, disgusting ice cream and look for a better one. Sure, the location is convenient, but it's just not worth it....
