Ciaone!

Service was one of the better experiences we’ve had in Rome as tourists. Felt a bit rushed at times (e.g. plates being taken before we were both finished with our food, main dishes coming out before we finished our starter) but in general we felt happy about the service. Also, we were asked if we would like bread with our starter, and that added €4 onto our bill- please let customers know about the extra charge as sometimes bread is complimentary in other restaurants - no big deal though. Food was AMAZING. Pesto pasta was so delicious and the quality of ingredients was really good. Atmosphere was very busy but we came at a peak time on a Saturday so was to be expected. All in all a really nice experience and we will be back next time we are in Rome !!

The food was very good, however the bill ads up fast. Each bottle of water is 5 Euros, we thought we were ordering a side that came with our meal included, but it ended up being an extra 12 Euros. If the prices were more reasonable (especially on the small things) this would be 5 stars. However I have to factor in the surprisingly high cost at the end of the meal. I'd say I would have expected about 100 Euros for lunch for our group of 5, and our bill ended up being 148. With the negative out of the way, the food was excellent. They were having a daily special of chicken stuffed with fig and it was delicious. My wife had sea bass which was also very good. The grilled vegetable side we didn't realize we had ordered was great, well cooked and seasoned.

It has been a big surprise having lunch at the Hostaria! I was expecting the usual touristic restaurant. However, …. Within the amazing and iconic area the Hostaria serves amazing food not only from the local tradition (wife and kids enjoyed their carbonara and amatriciana) as I had a fine beef tagliata. hosts are funny and very polite and continuously cared for our table (with kids…). Reserve in advance even if the nice hosts have shown they can do magica even without reservations. And to clarify the pictures are from halfway through plates as I had to fight with kids to interrupt them while eating.

Good option for lunch right in between the Vatican Museum entrance/exit and St. Peter's Square (just beneath the Vatican walls). All the options you'd expect on the menu. Nice air conditioning. As you enter there's just one table visible but around the corner there's many more. Music was a bit loud and servers were singing loudly from time to time, which you might find charming or annoying depending on your taste. We tried the pesto pasta and pizza capricciosa (mozzarella, ham, olives, artichoke, and half a boiled egg), both of which were very nice and just the right portion size.

WOW. I’m a sweetheart but pleasing me is quite a tall order this is a REAL 5 star! As in it’s not about how it looks (which is wonderful) but what it is!!!!! This place is FANTASTIC!!!! The food was excellent appetizer was mind blowingly satisfying and fresh the wine was knock- out and the pasta was so delicious. Seriously- EAT HERE! I had a glass of Moscato that was an EXPERIENCE!!!! Apologies- the service was also exceedingly accommodating, friendly and expedient. IMPRESSED. And I’m not impressed by facades. It’s good food, great atmosphere, excellent service. WOW!
