Rhome Hosting — Hotel in Rome

Nice In the beginning and scary in the end.

I was going to give 4 stars because the location is convenient and owner Mr Nicolò is very responsive and helpful. Not 5 star because: 1 no breakfast provided. 2 window to a street with some traffic noises in the night. This is not serious because there is double glass. But if you are sensitive to noice, this can be a thing. 3 bed room for 4 people about 3 meter by 6 meters so not spacious. But I understand in Rome this is maybe a normal size. So I agreed to 200euro per night price. Owner asked to checkout at 10:30.

However Mr Nicolò appeared to be a totally different person when I checked out.

The toilet lid was loose ,(so shaking left and right it is like when you took it out and set it in whiteout putting to the right place ) while I was sitting on it the night before I check out.

So next day morning 9:30 when I checked out, I remind Mr Nicolò via WhatsApp message.

His reply really scared me: it was ok when checking now it is broken, all cost on me.

I explained why loose is not damage, but he came to the room and insisted to say it is damaged.

After a few discussion by message, he still insist to put the cost on me.

Called him 3 times and he REJECTED all calls. When I check in, he reply messages immediately.

Luckily I was not far away, so went back to meet him in the room.

Checking together, he really can’t find any damage so he agreed no damage and I can go.

Felt very bad because of this attitude, what if I can’t go back? Then how can I justify there is no damage? What if he replace the old toilet lid and put a big bill to me? To whom can I complaint?

I see the good reviews from Italian people, so I really hope what happened to me is rare and won’t happens to others.

To give a full disclosure: I guess Nicolò is going to say below two things to give readers an impression that I am a bad guest: I didn’t close the light I left garbage in room.

So here is some explain in advance: Checkout time is 10:30, I left at 9:30 in a hurry that I forgot to turn off the light. Cleaner lady comes every day 10 am. She took garbage away. There is no dust bin in bedroom except for one small dust bin in toilet about 1 litter size. It is Full. So I collected garbage in one bag. Leave it on the ground before toilet. Together with about 3 empty plastic bottles. And I left about 3 euro coins on table to thanks the lady for this. I cleaned the room as much as possible. You can see...

DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY. I booked it at a really good price, two months before my trip. On the next day, the prices were at least 50% more expensive, to which I thought I had gotten a great deal. I then followed to receive notifications that my card was invalid, even though it was not, so I kept confirming all the details. On the day it was supposed to be charged, I got another notification that the card was invalid, I then changed to another card and it still wouldn't be confirmed, even though all details were correct and valid. I kept calling them and whatsapping, sending messages on the Booking platform, but they only ignored. They then cancelled the reservation one month before the trip (risking me not finding some other place) and told Booking that my cards were expired. I contacted Booking and provided with all the evidence that it wasn't. I believe they didn't want to honour the prices that I had secured, and lied about it to Booking.

Host Nicolò went all the way to accomodate us throughout our stay in Rome.||We were a bit complicated, flying in from 2 countries at different Times, but 2 days before arriving Nicolò contacted me on WhatsApp to discus it all. Never was there a problem, he very generously accomodated everything and made it all work!||Next to that he helped in restaurant reservations, ordered taxis back to the airport, and helped with all our questions. Super easy to have someone in Rome to help with little things on WhatsApp, answered mostly in 10 minutes 👍👍👍||The room itself was great for a city trip. Very clean, good coffee present (not some cheap home brand), very nice shower with good water pressure and massage settings if you want it.||All in all Rhome hosting made our stay in Rome even better.||I would highly recommend booking...
