Before my Roma trip, my husband recommended me his favorite restaurant in this beautiful city. ‘You should go to I Quattro Mori Hostaria which is close to Vatican. And find a lovely cool guy Giovanni who has neat white teeth, ask him to arrange your dinner. You will be very satisfied as we were three years ago!’

My husband also told me this was the only restaurant they visited twice during one trip. Giovanni organized them two nice feasts including different kinds of pastas, seafood, many traditional Italian appetizers, desserts and paring wine. All the dishes were delicious, coming with a very lovely price.

I went to the restaurant alone after visiting the Vatican Museum and luckily found Mr. Giovanni at first sight. This lovely gentleman arranged a very amazing typical Italian dinner much better than expected.

For the appetizers, big five! Boiled mussels, red beans with tomato, anchovies marinated in vinegar, fried fishes, octopus salad. All the food were with big portions for one person and very tasty!

And then Giovanni brought two small dishes of pasta. The first one is spaghetti with clams, the clams are very juicy and fresh with the chewy spaghetti. The second pasta is very special which named gnocchetti Sardi, a typical pasta from Giovanni’s hometown Sardinia. Each piece of pasta absorbed the sauce of carb and shrimp (boiled with tomato and saffron I guess). Although I was very full at that moment I couldn’t stop my spoon^^

After a glass of lemon sorbet for refreshing, the second main course was coming. Grigliato misto oil Pesce, a kind of mixed grilled seafood plate, with a piece of Orata(Gilt-head bream), some fried calamari, and two different kinds of shrimps. To be honest, I was trying my best to finish my feast, and luckily I had a great job. After that, one slice of homemade cake and a plate of mixed fruit also found their space in my stomach.

The next day, I brought my friend to the restaurant again and had another lovely night.

The restaurant was too generous. The staffs always leave the whole bottle of house wine on the table and all the dishes were big sizes. I am a senior traveler and have experienced many restaurants over the world, I Quattro Mori Hostaria will be always THE ONE in Roma. It is a hidden gem in a quiet street. All the guests except me are local people. I think this 15-year-old restaurant is like an old friend in their community. The bosses, a lovely couple told me Giovanni is over 80 years old, which surprised me a lot because he is still full of energy and passion like a fresh guy. Giovanni has been working for their family for over 34 years and enjoying the job all the time, making all the guests feel spoiled.

Infelizmente é uma armadilha para os turistas.Não dão preço, servem o que querem, mesmo que você não queira, lhe dão o vinho e a água que você não quer, e cobram no final. Uma pena. Entrei com esperança sem saber como era o sistema, ao primeiro sinal perguntei ao garçom que, de forma agressiva me disse que eles serviriam o "menu do dia", perguntei o preço e me disseram que cobrariam depois. A comida era fraca, já no primeiro prato me levantei e decidi ir me embora. Paguei 50 euros sem que me detalhassem nada. Pensei em chamar a polícia, mas como sou turista desisti e paguei. Que pena!

Unfortunately it is a trap for tourists. They do not give a price, they serve what they want, even if you do not want to, they give you the wine and water you do not want, and they charge you at the end. A shame. I entered with hope without knowing what the system was, at the first sign I asked the waiter who aggressively told me that they would serve the "menu of the day", I asked the price and they told me they would charge later. The food was poor, and on the first course I got up and decided to leave. I paid 50 euros without being told anything. I thought about calling the police, but as a tourist I gave up and paid. What a pity!

Purtroppo è una trappola per i turisti. Non fanno un prezzo, servono quello che vogliono, anche se non lo vogliamo, ti danno il vino e l'acqua che non voglie e ti addebitano alla fine. Una vergogna. Ho entrato con speranza senza sapere che cosa era il sistema, al primo segno ho chiesto al cameriere che mi ha detto in modo aggressivo che avrebbero servito il "menu del giorno", ho chiesto il prezzo e mi hanno detto che avrebbero addebitato più tardi. Il cibo era scadente, e al primo corso mi sono alzato e ho deciso di partire. Ho pagato 50 euro senza essere stato detto niente. Ho pensato a chiamare la polizia, ma come turista ho rinunciato e pagato....

Before I dive straight into criticism, there are some good things about this place. The restaurant itself is a very nice place, a great area to eat at and the staff were very lovely. However, my time here must have been the worst I’ve ever experienced in any restaurant. First of all, we were seated and had chosen what to drink in 5 or so minutes, but the service was so unbelievably slow, with us having to wait half an hour just to order. Now don’t get me wrong, I can understand that the restaurant is busy at the time I was there, but what happens next shouldn’t happen anywhere, busy or not. Mine and my parents’ meals are delivered to our table, and we dig in, but my brother’s is nowhere to be seen. Meals finished we’re sat there confused because my brother hasn’t eaten anything yet (apart from a bit of my mum’s food). We call one of the waiters over to ask where the food is and he says it is coming and that he is terribly sorry about the delay. The chef must be going mental in the kitchen because he missed something. Bear in mind we ordered scampi and some potatoes on the side about an hour ago. We are sure the waiter who took our order read it all out loud just to check it was all correct, scampi and potatoes were on there. About 20 minutes later, some potatoes come, but no scampi. The potatoes are undercooked, almost raw in the middle. My dad informs the waiter about this and asks about the scampi. The waiter at this point has totally forgotten about the scampi and is making a decision on what to do. My dad at this point is so incredibly annoyed, and is making bad remarks over and over again. If I was working here when this happened, I would apologise and get the manager to sort it out for me and give the costumer a partial refund, possibly even a full one. We leave the restaurant, me and everyone else extremely...

Ich bin auf eine Empfehlung dorthin gegangen und habe mich die ganze Zeit darauf gefreut. Siehe Fotos Vergleich Fisch und Fleisch 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Für mich war klar, dass ich Fisch nehmen werde, da ich das generell in jeder Form gerne esse und meine Tochter wollte Fleisch. Somit konnten wir beide Varianten ausprobieren. Fisch: Die Fisch Vorspeisen waren für mich genau richtig, Verschiedene Varianten Auswahl. Ich war von meiner Vorspeise absolut begeistert. Siehe Fotos 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Pasta & Muschel: War so extrem gesalzen dass ich nach einem bisschen es zurückschicken musste. Es war ungeniessbar, da die Muscheln in Salz und die Nudeln in Salz gekocht sind. So hat der Kellner uns das erklärt, dass es extrem ungenießbar war. Anstatt dessen hat man mir Pasta mit Tomatensauce gebracht, was nur die Hälfte von der Portion war, die ursprünglich kam. Wir fand das sehr lächerlich aber es war immer noch okay, weil ich wusste es komme noch andere Sachen. Passt damit tomatensosse war nichts besonderes. Das bekomme ich an jeder Ecke . Ohne Basilikum, ohne Garnitur ohne Petersilie einfach nur tomatensosse drauf fertig. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Das war mehr als enttäuschend und ich habe mich der tierisch über diese Sache aufgeregt, aber habe immer noch entspannt auf den Rest gewartet. Dann kam die hauptspeise fischteller siehe Foto. Das war okay, aber es war jetzt nichts besonderes. Muss ich dazu sagen. Fleisch: Siehe unbedingt Foto. Meine Tochter bekam nur einen Teller mit jeweils zwei dieselben insgesamt drei verschiedene Salamis / Schinken Sorten, in der Mitte ein Käse. Das war ihre gesamte Vorspeise, wobei ich beim Fisch vier verschiedene Sachen bekommen habe. Vier komplette Teller und sie nur einen Teller mit Salami und Schinken antworte Sorten. Also man kann die Bestellung Fisch und die Bestellung Fleisch 0 0,00 vergleichen. Bitte seht euch dringend die Bilder dazu an, damit ihr ein Vergleich habt. Pasta mit Carbonara, also wirklich nichts besonderes. War mehr als enttäuschend. Die Hauptspeise vom Fleischteller bestand aus fettigem Fleisch auch wirklich ungeniessbar. Nur das eine Stückchen Fleisch wurde gegessen. Die fleischspeise war es definitiv nicht wert, zumal es keine verschiedenen Varianten gab wie bei dem Fisch. Es gab zu jeder Speise ein Glas Wein, was ich völlig okay finde und eine Flasche Wasser, was ich gut finde. Aber den Vogel abgeschossen hat für uns einfach auch noch der Nachtisch. Wir wurden nicht gefragt, was wir haben wollten. Da hätte ich mir schon zwei Varianten gewünscht, dass man das ein oder das andere haben möchte. Es kam einfach nur ein alter trockener Käsekuchen. Siehe Bilder, der so bröckelte, als wir mit der Gabel etwas ausprobieren wollten und es zerbröselte. Wir konnten leider feststellen, dass eine Dame am Nachbar Tisch die gleichen Menge an ihrem Essen festgestellt hatte. Sie hatte auch Fleisch bestellt und hat alles zurückgehen lassen. Zu ihrem Glück hat sie sich den Nachtisch erspart. Im Nachhinein weiss ich auch warum. 90€ / 2 Personen definitiv nicht wert. Sehr schade, wir hatten uns gefreut hier die nächsten Tage essen zu Kommen. Es kann sein, dass wir verwöhnt sind. Wir sind jetzt seit 5 Tagen in Rom und haben jeden Tag unheimlich gut gegessen. Wir waren täglich dort und haben immer was anderes gegessen und waren jedes Mal sehr begeistert. Nur zu empfehlen. Siehe meine anderen Bewertungen.

I had the most amazing lunch at „I quattro mori“ today! This hostaria - recommended to me by a friend - is famous for their „meat or fish menu“, and absolutely rightfully so!! I chose fish (like I did last year at my first time there), and I can’t begin to tell you how amazing it was!! Antipasti (6 different kinds), primo (today I got spaghetti alle vongole, one of my favorite dishes in the world), secondo (mixed seafood platter), dolce, caffè and a digestivo are included in the menu as well as a glass of wine and a bottle of water. The food was incredibly good (and I got to give my compliments and a very well deserved bow to the chef before I left) and the dtaff was beyond lovely. They put up with my still not so great Italian and they even brought me extra olives when they saw me snatching the last remaining one from one of the antipasti plates before they cleared them from my table. I‘ll definitely come back - definitely during my next trip to Rome and maybe even next week. I still have to try the meat menu, after all! Honestly, I can’t recommend this place highly enough!!!

So hat der Kellner uns das erklärt, dass es extrem ungenießbar war. Anstatt dessen hat man mir Pasta mit Tomatensauce gebracht, was nur die Hälfte von der Portion war, die ursprünglich kam. Wir fand das sehr lächerlich aber es war immer noch okay, weil ich wusste es komme noch andere Sachen. Passt damit tomatensosse war nichts besonderes. Das bekomme ich an jeder Ecke . Ohne Basilikum, ohne Garnitur ohne Petersilie einfach nur tomatensosse drauf fertig. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Das war mehr als enttäuschend und ich habe mich der tierisch über diese Sache aufgeregt, aber habe immer noch entspannt auf den Rest gewartet. Dann kam die hauptspeise fischteller siehe Foto. Das war okay, aber es war jetzt nichts besonderes. Muss ich dazu sagen. Fleisch: Siehe unbedingt Foto. Meine Tochter bekam nur einen Teller mit jeweils zwei dieselben insgesamt drei verschiedene Salamis / Schinken Sorten, in der Mitte ein Käse. Das war ihre gesamte Vorspeise, wobei ich beim Fisch vier verschiedene Sachen bekommen habe. Vier komplette Teller und sie nur einen Teller mit Salami und Schinken antworte Sorten. Also man kann die Bestellung Fisch und die Bestellung Fleisch 0 0,00 vergleichen. Bitte seht euch dringend die Bilder dazu an, damit ihr ein Vergleich habt. Pasta mit Carbonara, also wirklich nichts besonderes. War mehr als enttäuschend. Die Hauptspeise vom Fleischteller bestand aus fettigem Fleisch auch wirklich ungeniessbar. Nur das eine Stückchen Fleisch wurde gegessen. Die fleischspeise war es definitiv nicht wert, zumal es keine verschiedenen Varianten gab wie bei dem Fisch. Es gab zu jeder Speise ein Glas Wein, was ich völlig okay finde und eine Flasche Wasser, was ich gut finde. Aber den Vogel abgeschossen hat für uns einfach auch noch der Nachtisch. Wir wurden nicht gefragt, was wir haben wollten. Da hätte ich mir schon zwei Varianten gewünscht, dass man das ein oder das andere haben möchte. Es kam einfach nur ein alter trockener Käsekuchen. Siehe Bilder, der so bröckelte, als wir mit der Gabel etwas ausprobieren wollten und es zerbröselte. Wir konnten leider feststellen, dass eine Dame am Nachbar Tisch die gleichen Menge an ihrem Essen festgestellt hatte. Sie hatte auch Fleisch bestellt und hat alles zurückgehen lassen. Zu ihrem Glück hat sie sich den Nachtisch erspart. Im Nachhinein weiss ich auch warum. 90€ / 2 Personen definitiv nicht wert. Sehr schade, wir hatten uns gefreut hier die nächsten Tage essen zu Kommen. Es kann sein, dass wir verwöhnt sind. Wir sind jetzt seit 5 Tagen in Rom und haben jeden Tag unheimlich gut gegessen. Wir waren täglich dort und haben immer was anderes gegessen und waren jedes Mal sehr begeistert. Nur zu empfehlen. Siehe meine anderen Bewertungen.

I had the most amazing lunch at „I quattro mori“ today! This hostaria - recommended to me by a friend - is famous for their „meat or fish menu“, and absolutely rightfully so!! I chose fish (like I did last year at my first time there), and I can’t begin to tell you how amazing it was!! Antipasti (6 different kinds), primo (today I got spaghetti alle vongole, one of my favorite dishes in the world), secondo (mixed seafood platter), dolce, caffè and a digestivo are included in the menu as well as a glass of wine and a bottle of water. The food was incredibly good (and I got to give my compliments and a very well deserved bow to the chef before I left) and the dtaff was beyond lovely. They put up with my still not so great Italian and they even brought me extra olives when they saw me snatching the last remaining one from one of the antipasti plates before they cleared them from my table. I‘ll definitely come back - definitely during my next trip to Rome and maybe even next week. I still have to try the meat menu, after all! Honestly, I can’t recommend this place highly enough!!!
