Why has Roma vaulted ahead of Firenza on my favorite cities in Italy? Because of places like Nakai. Of course Rome has dozens of world class Italian restaurants. Rome has my heart because of the variety including awesome Asian food. We shared everything starting with "Open Your Mind Plus" and the "Japanese Tacos". Both of these appetizers were outstanding and I heard Wow's from all 4 people at the table. Next we shared the raw fish "Hamachi" and it was outstanding. The flavor profiles of all three were incredible. The stir fried "Crab Rice" was above average and a nice larger dish to share, The Maki Sushi Rolls were also way above average to excellent = we shared the Nakai and Coraco rolls. A slight dip in soy sauce gives the Nakai roll its incredible punch and the Coraco was unique in its ingredients.
We are on a one month foodie tour from Spain through Italy and everyone agreed Nakai instantly vaults into our Top 10 list and this is outstanding because we have been fortunate to eat at so many fantastic places these last 30 days. I/we will be back to Nakai to try some other items on the...
Read moreI was intrigued as the chef seems to offer interesting dishes of Jap-Romanesque fusion cuisine on Instagram. Instead, it has been a very disappointing experience. The restaurant is well decorated, and lies in a good location near Saint Peter square. Despite the first positive impression, the value/money ratio is poor, and the fusion experiment hasnât succeeded at all. Each course ordered by all of us was presented with little care, the portions -even those of the main courses- were just few bites and poorly balanced in flavour. The white wine was served at room temperature, and despite we asked for an ice cooler, it did not reach the right temperature throughout dinner. The service was inefficient and, above all, the stuff was impolite...it is the first time I have ever seen a manager who rebuts badly to a customer who just politely asks if itâs possible to lower the wine temperature. This place probably survives thanks to Instagram and the curiosity it generates among potential customers. This is the case in which the virtual experience is better than...
Read moreSuper strange service experience. Gave us the wrong food order and did not check in on us in between serving items despite it not being busy. When I flagged down the server to clarify what they gave us they admitted it was the wrong food, but then asked us if we wanted itâŠwe were obviously unsure and they said âhave itâ. We ate it but then were confused if the dish we ordered was ever comingâŠour dish did finally come without clarification and when the bill was finally dropped the e mistakenly delivered food was on the bill. Had to argue with multiple people multiple times to get it taken off, and multiple people dropped multiple checks pretending to have taken it off the bill arguing that âyou ate itâ.
Otherwise the food was interesting but the service from management down was flippant, sneaky, rude, inattentive making the overall experience a bust.
Also, worth noting comes up on google as a vegetarian option place and there are...
