Terrible experience: unacceptable behaviour and stomach pains! Every time before visiting a restaurant I do a lot of research, especially when we are abroad.. this is the first time we had such a bad experience, despite the good reviews we read. We went to the restaurant at 22.00 (we were informed by the hours on Google that they close at 23.30) and as soon as we arrived, both the young waitress and the elderly waiter were blatantly rude to us (the waiter literally threw the plate on the table from a distance to show his displeasure), presumably because they thought it was late and wanted us to leave. Unacceptable behaviour (in addition to being a customer, I am also speaking as a former waitress for many years). As if that wasn't enough, after eating we both have horrible stomach pains, we suppose that maybe they rushed to prepare our dinner and something wasn't cooked right (we both tasted the carbonara I ordered). We spent the night before in Florence, where we had an amazing dinner and the staff there touched us with their kindness, so the comparison was inevitable! This restaurant is a big disgrace to Rome. In conclusion, it is a risk to eat there, as the quality and service depend on the mood...
Read moreIn a trip that was filled with many amazing experiences and lots of delicious food, Osteria Padi was one of the absolute highlights of our visit to Rome. First, the food is amazing. The polpette were the best I’ve ever had, silky and flavorful and authentic. The fettucine with white ragu and cream truffle sauce was a revelation, aromatic with superbly balanced flavors. The tiramisu is an other-worldly experience, one of the best desserts I’ve had anywhere. Everything was seasoned perfectly to bring out the fresh flavors of the ingredients. Besides the food, the atmosphere is so welcoming and comfortable, like eating at the home of good friends, and your friends happen to be world class chefs. The staff is friendly and attentive. The prices are very affordable, especially considering the quality. Despite our original plan to visit lots of different restaurants, we couldn't resist returning to Osteria Padi as many times as our schedule permitted, and made it our last stop in Rome. ...
Read moreWe were on a 1 day excursion from our cruise. We hired a driver for the day. We told him we wanted local "cacio de pepe". After our visit to the Vatican our driver took us to THE most AMAZING place, Osteria Padi Vaticano. We had the most amazing cacio de pepe. I ordered my dish off of the daily specials not even knowing what I was going to get. To my delight it was a cacio de pepe with fried battered squash flowers. It was I dish I had while visiting a friend who's family was first generation Italian American. I loved the dish and have tied to make it as I've never found it in America. The dish triggered such happy tears for such a special memory. I will never forget our time at Osteria. We had great wine, a strawberry dessert. Such a wonderful time food and memories. Thank...
