We were met with what felt like a bizarre hostility from the staff. During taking our order, we asked for water from the waiter, he agreed but seemed to forget about the request. Once we were served our food 15 minutes later (with just a fork), we asked the second waiter what happened to the water, who didn’t seem to understand our request (we wanted tap water which we thought restaurants provided for free) Then one by one, every single waiter came to our table to enquire what it was we wanted before a waiter made the remark that “this water is very good quality water you’ll have to pay” 5 minutes later this same server went directly to the tap and filled up water for himself (and drank it right in front of us), after our visual dismay, another server had the decency to pour us both half a glass.
We saw all the waiter staff behind the counter pointing and laughing at us which wasn’t very welcoming and created a hostile atmosphere.
We were only at the restaurant for about 30 minutes as we left straight after our meal but overall wasn’t a very pleasant experience.
For the same price for the pasta you can go to Romané in Cipro which was infinitely tastier and a better experience.
Didn’t try the pizza here so perhaps that’s...
Read moreI highly recommend this restaurant. We stumbled upon this this jem of a restaurant on our first day in Rome. We are a family of 4, with two kids 11 and 9. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch that first day. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. They did not have the beautiful pizza oven fired up because it was January 1st and they had a more traditional menu for lunch. Our tired travelers were very happy after our meal and we all agreed that we would like to visit again during our stay in Rome. So this evening, as planned, we returned for a dinner experience. The restaurant was full and we unfortunately didn't have a reservation but they found a way to make it work and after a short wait we were seated in the cozy atmosphere. I am not going to lie, the food was amazing. I had an artichoke starter (wow!) followed by a lovely sea bass wrapped in a thin potato envelope. On the side I had the delicious grilled potatoes and sautéed chicory. My husband had a delicious homemade pasta. The staff was fantastic and the husband and wife owners were there working along side the staff to make sure that everyone had a...
Read moreThe best sea food dishes I ate in Rome, and I ate sea food for 7 days straight (lunch and dinner). I actually returned the next day for dinner. I ate the sea food pasta twice, the grilled squid, fried octopus and fried anchovies. My favorite was obviously the sea food pasta, but also the grilled squid. The others were also good. It is not in the touristic area, and locals seem to love this place; most tables were already reserved when I showed up at 7pm. If locals fill it up, you know it must be a good restaurant. Really nice, welcoming staff; some of them speak English others use their "hands and feet" to explain you the menu, which is available in English, or teach you some Italian if you are up to picking up a few words. I got a lot of help in making good choices. Medium price range (sea food pasta is about EUR 17), but worth every penny. Excellent price/quality ratio. For sure I will return when I get the chance to visit Rome again. Don't forget to call ahead to...
