I would give this place zero stars if I could, and honestly don't understand how it has such a good rating. I am a big believer in taking recommendations from servers as they typically know the menu best, so when our server this evening suggested a couple of antipasta options, we took them. He spun it as "an antipasta mista--specialty of the house" (11€ on the menu) and an evening special of grilled and fried porcini. We quickly realized they were trying to run up our check when they kept coming to the table brining additional bottles of water without being requested (which we declined) and kept pushing a more expensive wine after telling him several times that we preferred Chianti. At this point, we knew that the bill was going to be high, but even still we were shocked when it came. I had wondered aloud to my family why he was trying to upsell us so much with everything given that servers in Italy don't earn most of their wages from tips and only get a tip if the service is exceptional. When the bill came, the "antipasta mista" he suggested ended up being many antipasta a la carta. The 11€ on the menu was a per person charge for a small bowl of rocket salad, rice, and marinated fava beans, for a total of 44€. In addition, there was 15€ for the grilled and fried porcini each (30€), and several other items he had made sound to be part of the mista. All of this would slightly bother me, but I would take it as lesson learned not to take server recommendations in the future. What bothered me the most was when the server hovered over our table after dropping the check, seemingly pressuring us to pay quickly and not check the charges. THEN, he made sure to tell us that the bill was not inclusive of tip, so that should be left in cash. Please, do NOT insult my intelligence and assume that I know nothing about the tipping culture in Italy. If you were going for exceptional service, you certainly missed the bar. He proceeded to stand over us until we got up from the table to watch and see what we left for tip. I have never felt so taken advantage of and felt the need to share our experience in hopes that others will avoid this place or at least know not to trust the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at L'Isola della Pizza and I have to say, it was an outstanding experience. This cozy restaurant is located in the heart of Rome and is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious, authentic Italian pizza.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and welcoming, with a charming decor that makes you feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout our meal.
But the highlight of the evening was, of course, the pizza. L'Isola della Pizza offers a wide variety of mouth-watering pizza options, all cooked to perfection in a traditional wood-fired oven. The crust was thin and crispy, the toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the cheese was perfectly melted. We tried several different pizzas and each one was a delight.
What really stood out to me about L'Isola della Pizza was the quality of the ingredients. It's clear that the chefs take great care in selecting the freshest, highest-quality ingredients for their pizzas, which really makes a difference in the taste. The restaurant also offers a selection of wines and beers to pair with your meal, which is always a nice touch.
Overall, I would highly recommend L'Isola della Pizza to anyone looking for a delicious, authentic Italian pizza experience in Rome. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling...
Read moreI was not satisfied with the customer service there and also I had one of the worse pizza ever. We came here in 4 and have been seated almost immediately, however, we waited 10 minutes to be noticed by the waiter that has been helpfull as less as he could be. We ordered and wait for another 20 minutes for meal (which would be okay in case other tables with people arrived after us wouldn’t be paying after they finished they orders that were ordered after us) but the quality of the meal? Very much under average. We also had a bottle of wine for 20€ which the waiter open and then he left to the next table to open their wine and checked with them the taste, he pour them every glass on table, while we get no service at all. I asked if they have any kind of dip such as sweet chilli or garlic or something because the pizza was really dry and I get the olive oil. At the end we paid 80€ with 15% of something called “service charge” and that waiter literraly ask for the tip because “this amount doesn’t include the tip” and after the payment he took the bill from me with the words “that is mine and you get the bill from the terminal”- where is only the total amount obviously, so I had no chance to check what they issued, probably also the bread that we didn’t touch. We will not go there...
